32.How Did I Survive?
I woke up the next day with Dr. Jason by my side. “Dr. Jason?” I said as I watched him stare at the curtain.
“Yes James? Can I get you something?” he asked quickly as he turned to look at me.
“Can I see John now? Please?” I pleaded.
“Let me ask,” he replied as he stood; then he hurried out of my curtain room and returned a few minutes later with Anna. “The nurse says you can, but only for a little while,” he told as Anna pushed a wheelchair to the side of my bed.
“I can walk,” I declared as I swung my legs off the bed.
“You are only allowed to go if you sit and we push you,” Anna explained; so Dr. Jason helped me into the wheelchair and pushed me through the curtain.
On the bed laid an ash-face John, he didn't move or even seem to breath. I stared in wonder of how I survived the many more shocks I received. “John?” I whispered, but he didn't respond.
“He hasn't woken up since yesterday, when you arrived,” Dr. Jason told before returning me to my bed.
As soon as they were gone, I hopped back into the wheelchair and wheeled myself back to the side of John's bed. I stayed there for about a hour before the nurse came looking for me. She returned to me to my curtained area and had me climb back into the bed. She left and I scratched my neck, accidentally bumping my collar in the process; so I received a shock and fainted again.
