Chapter 9

A dog sat peacefully on the ground dow the narrow, dirt alleyway lined with log houses. He was gnawing a piece of meat as his ears prickled and listened on the usual afternoon sounds of the village: a dog barking, a rooster crowing, and the chattering of the crowds.

Nasa kalagitnaan na siya ng pag ubos sa kapirasong karne ng isang itim na aso ang lumitaw sa dulo ng alleyway. He raised his head, teeth bared, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up as he looked at the black dog.

He grunted as the dog prowled closer to him. Tumayo siya, not taking his eyes off his opponent as it halted a meter away from him.

The black dog looked at the meat, and then at the dog who owned it. He must get it, he was hungry!

The dog barked at the black one and guarded the piece of meat. The black one advanced on the meat and he picked it up hurriedly with his mouth and was about to run away, nang kagatin ng itim na aso ang kabilang side ng meat.

It was a tug of war. The black dog was stronger, his jaws were locked on the piece of meat as he tugged and tried to pull it free.

They're fight went on, and they were not aware of the chaos happening all around them. One by one, the houses on the village were blasted by the swarm of Elven Elders flying above.

Purple streaks were issuing from the tip of the staffs the Elders were riding on, hitting the houses. Villagers were running in every direction, screaming, trying to ran away from the Elders...

The black dog won. He got the piece of meat and ran away. The other dog stood watching him, helpless, wounded, and weakened...

Isang bahay ang sumabog sa alley, at tumakbo ang aso papunta sa forest na tumutubo sa gilid ng village...

He stopped and licked his bleeding wound, and glanced back at the village. He will return when the black dog was not there...
