Background Story: Joy was born inside the bell tower of a chapel in the town of Raven's Fair. Her father, a mute undertaker, encountered Mary Shaw after he received one of her dolls, Billy. Because he was mute, he could not scream, thus sparring him from her wrath. Although, Mary took a liking to the man and reappeared to him as a young woman. They made love the next night and it's then revealed that her young self was actually a "perfect doll" that the real Mary Shaw constructed to use the undertaker to plant a child in her. She then killed him and turned him into a life-size, human puppet. She gave birth to Joy in the bell tower. She owns an assortment of ventriloquist dummies from her mother.
