Chapter 35

Katy's POV:

We have finally arrived, and the place couldn't be prettier. We're in the woods, at a clearance, there's a river, and a small fire going, the sky over us is twinkling with stars, overall it's just perfect.

Luke took my hand, leading me to the small fire that he must have started up before getting me. We sit down and he starts.

"This is where it all started. When I was young, dad and I would go here every other weekend, have a father-son bounding time. He taught me to love nature with all its goods and bads, he taught me to be a man, make him proud and take care of my mom, when I was seven, he started taking me here more often, making me promise that I would be the best man I could.

At that time I had no idea why he was doing so, little did I know our time was valued, my father was diagnosed with cancer, and even when he was dying, he kept it a secret from me, still took me here every other weekend. The day before my 8th birthday, he took me here, and told me the truth, he said "son, my moments are counted on earth, I have to join grandpa and grandma soon, i'll always be by your side, I'll always look down on you, I need you to promise me, that you will take care and obey your mother, promise me that you will. Crying, I ran into his arms that day. I kept on sobbing and promising while begging him to stay. Being only eight, I had no idea that he had no choice.

When I turned 10, we left London, and went to California. My mother thought that by going away, she'd help me and herself forget and start moving on. But that did not happen.

When I reached my 16th birthday, I decided to start a YouTube channel, my dad used to encourage me to sing, always. So I finally decided on something that would make him proud. After all the things I did, the parties, the drunken mess I became, after all that, I owed it to him. I started it, sang in a video, posted it. And I just kept going ya know, and it just kept on growing, my voice matured as I aged, now I have amazing vocals as my fans say.

But being a YouTuber comes with good and bad. Girls were obsessed with me, some boys too, some hated me, but I didn't care. I was living my dream, and dad was part of it. As you know, YouTube pays you.

So I decided to move all the way over to here, mom came along of course, I wanted a new beginning, a fresh start. But I had no idea, that I was coming back to my past. When we came and I was giving myself a tour, my bike hit a big rock causing me to fall. I fell down the hill we saw on our way. And landed here. Since then I come back here ever other weekend. Just to relieve my childhood."

I just sat there looking at him not knowing how to react. So I did the best I could. I shut my mouth and gave him a big hug. The best medicine when you're down. I expected him to push me off knowing he's a nineteen years old man, but no, he leaned in closer making the hug more comfortable.

3rd person's POV:

"I think we should head back" Luke said, after an hour longer of their stay. Agreeing Katy got up, and they both started walking back to the motorbike. On the ride home, Katy hugged Luke close from behind and soon she was drifting to sleep.

Like immediately realized her grip on him loosening, he pulled over and put her in front of him. Rested her head on his chest as he drove them back home. He then climbed up the tree and tucked her in. Giving the sleeping Beauty a kiss on the cheek, he left the house through the window again.

He then made his way into his own house where he crashed on his bed dreaming of that crazy girl, the one who somehow was so confident, the one who was not frightened by his looks or his efforts to push her away. Or at least that's what she showed him.

Katy on the other hand, was dreaming of birds singing and her solo to Lavender's Blue Dilly Dilly, which she had to dance at the biggest competition of the year, the one who took over two million people exactly in the theater, the one and only, Nationals.
