Tyler's POV

I had missed Josh. Despite me wanting to spend time away from him, I missed him so much. Nothing could satisfy the absence of those beautiful brown eyes and his gorgeous smile. Yet he wasn't smiling and I felt responsible. He was careful around me and I appreciated that, I just wished he would do that signature smile of his. 

We were walking in the woods and I had a feeling about where we were going. He held hands with me the entire time, the only sound being the sticks crunching beneath our feet. The old tree house came into view and I did a small smile when past memories with Josh flooded my mind. We came to the ladder and he awaited for me to go up. I climbed up the ladder and as soon as I was up all the way I was hit with a dusty smell. A thick layer of dust littered the old wooden floor. Josh soon joined me and he sat down on the floor. Hesitantly I took a seat next to him. 

Without even thinking about it I leaned my head on his shoulder. "Why'd you do it?" he spoke softly and his quiet and gentle voice filled my ears pleasantly. 

"I wasn't thinking  straight."

"What caused that?"

"You." I didn't bother lying to him.

Josh's POV

"You.". My heart dropped. I knew the reason for his cuts were because of me but hearing it from him hurt.

"What did I do?" my voice croaked and the lump in my throat grew.

"I saw you with some guy, when you said you'd be going over Pat's house." he did a large sigh.

"Shane and I aren't like that, he's just a friend." I tried assuring him but the air in the tree house remained thick.

"Then why'd you lie about him? Why'd you lie to me so much?" I didn't realize he caught on to many on my lies when I went out to see Shane.

"Tyler, I can't tell you it was a surprise for you." I sighed. I didn't even want tolie to him anymore.

"Well nice surprise you got me to lose trust in all of my friends and my boyfriend." he spoke with anger radiating off his tongue.

"And what was this damn surprise that you needed Shane for huh? My birthday isn't even until December and our anniversary already passed." Tyler huffed and crossed his arms before he lifted his head off my shoulder. 

"I-I." I tried speaking but I couldn't find the correct words.

"I thought you were cheating on me. Were you?" His attitude drove me over/

"Damnit Tyler." I slammed my fist against the wooden floor. "I wasn't cheating on you, and I would never. You should know that you mean the world to me. I was going to propose." I took a needed breath while he stared at me shocked. 

"It was going to be so beautiful and all of our friends and family were going to be there." I lowered my voice and stared at my fingers. 

"Josh I'm so- I'm so."  He stopped trying to talk and he unfolded his arms. 

"You know what? I don't care, this is just as special to us." He watched with wide eyes as I crawled over to the front of his feet. I adjusted myself so I was on one knee. 

As I took a large intake of breath Tyler's hands shot up and covered his mouth.

"Tyler, I don't even know where to start. So many memories happened here, both good and bad. It has been years since we met here. Every time I think of that day, I relive the moment you climbed up here surprised to see someone in your tree house. I'm sorry this situation didn't go as I had planned. You've made me such a happy man over these past few years and I want many more years spent with you. So will you, Tyler Robert Joseph kick it with me and get married?" 

Never in my life had I felt more nervous. My heart was racing and my palms were sweaty as I held out the black ring to him. His eyes were teary and his mouth was still covered with his hands as I awaited for a reply. Just as I thought he was about to say no and that it was too soon, he launched from his sitting position onto me. He knocked me flat onto the dusty floor and attacked me with kisses and a 'yes' with every smooch. 

We sat up and I slid the ring down his finger. He wrapped his arms around me tightly as I did the same to him. I finally got to see his smile after waiting so long these past few days and everything felt so right.
