Chapter 5: Flashback Of The Lady

(...) The lights went out and the sound of glass followed. 

I couldn't see anything and honestly, I was a bit scared. I didn't realized I was holding onto Will's shirt until he cleared his throat. Even if I couldn't see anything, I knew he was smirking. 

"Stay here." I told Will and slowly made my way to the kitchen. I made sure every step I took was light and I tried to make as little noise as I could. If there was an intruder in the house, I had to be careful in case they had a weapon or they could hurt me. 

Sudden Flashback

"Daddy..." I called out for my dad but the darkness covered my sight and I couldn't find my dad. The lights went out a second ago and I heard a scream from my mom. Like my dad, I couldn't find her either. I was extra worried of my mom because she was pregnant with my little brother. I didn't want anything to happen to her!

"Fleur!" panic ran through my mom's voice. Her voice came from the kitchen. As soon as my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw a dark shape near the door which lead to the kitchen. The long wavy hair was obviously my mom's hair. Running to my mom as fast as my little legs could carry, I was breathing heavily. I was scared. 

"You abandoned me! You left me for her!" I heard another lady's piercing scream. Crawling next to my mom, I saw my dad standing in front of a lady. She was holding something shiny, the shape of a knife. The kitchen knife that my mom used during breakfast. 

Her blonde hair was messy and tangled due to the wind blowing through her hair. My dad was standing in front of her, just wearing his pyjamas. His blonde hair had grew long and he hadn't had the time to go cut it. 

"I didn't leave you, Avery. You knew all along that I love Celiana. You even wanted to kill her! Why are you out of jail?!" jail? Wasn't that for bad people? This lady, blonde and beautiful, she wanted to kill my mother?

I wished I could have taken a close look at her. "Daddy?" I whispered but anyone could have heard it plain as day. Dad's head snapped to me and quickly, he swooped me up and held me close tight. 

"So you have a daughter, she's so beautiful." I sensed evil in her voice. "I'll be back. I won't attack tonight." she let out a grin before she disappeared. 

End of Flashback

"Flower!" Will sneaked up behind me. I swear, my heart had almost jumped out of me. Will grabbed my shoulders to calm me down. 

There was a sound of the light switch flipping and the kitchen was filled with light. A guy about my age was standing there smirking. 

"Well, well. Who's this, Will? Your girlfriend?" he circled Will and me. His eyes never leaving my spot. 

"Who are you?" I tried to steady my voice. It was weird but he reminded me of someone. I just couldn't put my finger on it. 

"Lance, dear. My, you're very pretty. How did Will manage to get you?" I continued to glare. How dared he talk to me like that? Will who stood behind me just held my shoulders, adding preasure on it. 

That's when I noticed Lance was holding a knife. "Please get out." 

"I came here to end Will in a bloody situation, but then a beautiful maiden shows up. I won't kill you tonight, but I'll be back, William Cross." his smirk disappeared. He stopped in front of the light switch and everything went dark again. "Au revior." 

When Will let go of my shoulders, I quickly dashed to the light switch and flipped it on. Lance was no longer there. Will and I were the only ones standing in the kitchen. 

"Will, who's that? Why does he want to kill you?" I demanded an explanation. 

"He's Lance Cross. My cousin."
