Part 2

Chapter 1

"Fleur!" Max, my best friend called me from the kitchen. Leaving the customers talking, I took off my apron and threw it at the counter where Liv was (reluctantly) working as the cashier. She threw me a scowl before I disappeared into the kitchen.

"Busy day, huh?" I asked Max who just grinned and smirked at me.

"Yeah, but talking to the customers make my day. It's like an oven in here!" I fanned myself using my hand. Max nodded in agreement and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"At least you're not spending the whole day in here!" Max rolled his eyes and pulled me by the wrist. "Let's go out and get some food. I'm starving. Plus it's lunch hour."

I nodded and the both of us went out by the back door. I figured I didn't need to change since I was wearing a normal blouse and short jeans. It would work.

Max's motorcycle was everything I wished for. Well, not really but I really wanted one like that but Dad wasn't going to take the risk of my life being endangered...like last time. Speaking of which, ever since my parents and I moved to New York with Liv, who was my enemy at first and friend later, Will hadn't called me or even try contacting me. It made me sad of course, but that was years ago.

"Yo, earth to Fleur. What's going in your head?" Max smacked my head causing me to glare at him.

     "What?"

"I've been calling you for the past few minutes. Why are you not responding?" He raised an eyebrow at me. "Are you thinking of Will, again?"

"No! No!" I lied, "Let's just find a place to eat. I'm hungry too!" I pulled him towards the motorcycle.

I'd met Max at high school I attended in New York. We graduated when we were eighteen and eventually Max helped me to get a job in his dad's restaurant. Mom kept bugging me that I should be working in Dad's company but I told her Frank could handle it when he was older. Plus I was a girl.

Back to Max's topic. Back in high school, I was the 'new girl'. Lots of girls there hated my guts and hated that the guys talked to me more than them. The only reason those guys talk to me was because I only talk about sports, almost-being-killed situation of mine, and motorcycles instead of clothes, dresses, make-up and boys. So technically it's like being in my old school all over again, without the hating part and that there was more than one Liv.

So, Max found out that the girls wanted to beat me up together. He came to tell me and I told him I could handle them(seriously, I could.) but he didn't believe me. Thirty girls(I counted them) came and tried scaring me. Naturally, I brushed them off and walked away leaving them frustrated and mad. It was funny because when I graduated I gave them finger right after I recieved my diploma.

But since that day Max warned me about those girls, he started hanging out with me alot so eventually we became best friends. And then he became Liv's boyfriend. So those two sometimes leave me with Sileen, who was also my friend.

The only times I had with Max was during lunch hour and it was only one hour.

"Hey Fleur, do you know what Friday is?" He shouted over the wind. He was speeding with his motorcycle so I had to grabbed onto his jacket really hard. Yeah, after that little incident with Lance, I wouldn't want another trip to the hospital.

     "What?" I shouted back.

"It involves candles, birthday cakes and you turning twenty-one!" He shouted again. My eyes widened as I realized it was going to be my birthday. Guess I was working so much that I'd forgotten about my own birthday!

"Really?" I asked, again when we got down from his motorcycle. He shook his head and laughed at me.

"Yeah, I remembered the date. You should too." He winked and the both of us went to get some food at Starbucks. The thing with Max was he thought rich girls wanted rich stuff. That was why he kept bringing me to Starbucks every time we wanted to get food. I told him that if he couldn't afford to keep buying it every day, then we could go somewhere else but he insisted anyways. So I made him promise that I would pay for the food from then on.

Like usual, we went to the seats near the window but that day, there was a man already sitting there. He had his laptop on the table. He was wearing a cap so I didn't really get a good look.

"It's alright, Max. Let's go sit over there." I nodded at the vacant table next to the magazine stand.

We didn't need to order our food because Sileen works there and she knew what we would order. Sileen gave us a smile and worked on our orders.

"You love that window seat..." Max started but I cut him off.

"Max, it's just a seat. We can sit there tomorrow if that guy doesn't show up." I shrugged and he just rolled his eyes.

The guy with the cap paid for his stuff and I saw him whispering something to Sileen before walking out of the place. Sileen frowned and look at the paper she was holding. She walked to our tables and looked at the both of us, mostly me.

"That guy wanted to give you this." Sileen said and gave me the paper. I narrowed my eyes at the paper and slowly unfolded it.

Hey Flower, I miss you. You miss me?

I swear, I could have fainted right at my spot.
