Violet's POV
.
.
I was frozen to my place, unable to move or speak. I could only stare at him. He was wearing black jeans, red undershirt and his signature leather jacket. His hair was messy and swept to the side, but it looked totally hot. His blue-green eyes were glaring at me. If looks could kill, I'd be six feet under. Melissa was looking at him. It felt like she was willing him to look at her, but he didn't. He kept glaring at the poor me. There was something in his eyes that I couldn't recognize. But I realized that he had secrets, dark secrets. I shivered at the intensity of his gaze and looked away.
Now I noticed that the hallway is empty with only me, Brad, Kate, Melissa and Beth, standing there. Oh, shot! The bell has already rung! I'm late, again. I groaned internally.
He started to walk towards us, every step taken confidently. He came to stand beside Melissa and fixed me with a hard glare, "You, little piece of shit! Who do you think you are! I can make yo__"
He was cut off by a deep booming voice, "Why are you all standing here?" the person who spoke came closer, "Ah, Brad, I should've expected this from you."
I slowly turned around to see our principal. He was maybe in his late 40s, had balding head and his eyes were blazing with fury. Looks like we are in trouble, I gulped nervously.
Brad just huffed, "I don't care what you had expected. You can't do anything to me, and you fucking know it too."
Mr. Olson's face darkened, "Go to your classes, right now. Or else detention for you all!"
Kate was the first to respond, "Yes, sir." She grabbed my hand and started walking, thus dragging me with her.
After we went past the principal, I turned to look at Brad. He was still glaring at me. I frowned. Just what was his problem? I never did anything to him, except for bumping into him. But it wasn't my entire fault. He should've also looked where he was going.
I turned to Kate, "We are late, again."
She just sighed, "Yeah. You should stay out of their way, Violet. Brad is dangerous, according to the many rumors going around all the time. I heard that he is somehow connected to a gang."
"Oh!" I exclaimed just as we reached our class.
I entered nervously. Mr. Maxwell turned to look at me, "Why are so ten minutes late, Miss Steele, Miss Johnson?"
I gulped, "Um, sorry, Mr. Maxwell. It won't happen again. Can I please take my seat?"
He sighed, "Teenagers these days!" he continued, "OK, sit, but don't be late again."
"Yes, sir," I said, taking my seat and fishing out my notebook and pen.
Kate took a seat beside me, "Whew! That was close!"
"Yeah," I smiled.
The teacher started his lecture again. I noticed that Brad didn't come to the class, at all. My thoughts drifted towards him once again. Kate said that he was connected to some gang. True that I had seen him smoking cigarettes and had smelled them on his breath too when he pushed me against the lockers the other day, but I didn't think that he did drugs. He didn't look like a druggie. One thing is for sure, he had secrets and was dangerous. I didn't know exactly how, but I had a feeling that I must stay the hell away from him. Despite knowing this, I couldn't seem to tear my eyes away from him whenever he was near me. Why is that? I have no idea.
The bell brought me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see that the class was emptying quickly. So I collected my things and went out of the class with Kate. I smiled at her, "See you at lunch. I have IR now."
She nodded, "Yeah, OK."
I went to the class and Mrs. Lanes was already there. I took a seat and took out my notebook and pens. Soon Issac came and sat beside me, "Hi!"
"Hello," I replied. He seemed like a nice guy, not like the arrogant jocks who are usually on the school football team. He was wearing a light blue dress shirt with designer jeans and Supras. His hair was slicked back with a few strands falling out.
"So, how are you today, Violet?" he asked politely.
I smiled softly, "I'm fine. And you?"
"Sexy as always?" he said in a mischievous tone.
I blushed and looked away, "Umm...."
He chuckled, "Aww, I was only teasing you."
A frown appeared on my face, guess he IS also an egoistic jock.
Mrs. Lanes started her lecture, successfully silencing the class. After about ten minutes, the door opened and Brad stepped in, alone. Mrs. Lanes frowned, but didn't said anything. He scanned the class and went to sit in the back. Why didn't the teacher scolded him or gave him a detention slip? She just started her lecture again. What is wrong with this school?
The class ended before I knew it. The next class was uneventful. So was the lunch. Me, Kate and Michael would sit there and talk while eating. It was fun to talk to them, but my mind was somewhere else today. Yes, the handsome devil who was hell bent on making my life hell. This was getting frustrating!
The fourth period was of PE. I didn't want to go, because I'm so lazy. Like why would anyone want to exercise or play silly games in school! It's stupidity. But Kate dragged me with her, saying that I should start to worry about my health and if I didn't now, then I would look like a whale or something like that. Basically she was ranting and I was trying not to laugh.
We entered the gymnasium where Mr. Smith was making students stand in lines. Soon he had divided the students in two teams. His announcement made me want to run away, for he said that we were playing dodgeball today.
Kate and I were in the same team while Michael was in the opposite team. She was pouting childishly because of it. I couldn't help but giggle at her. But my laughter died down when I realized that Melissa as well as Brad are on my opposing team. This is not going to end well.
Mr. Smith blew the whistle and the game started. I tried throwing a ball, but due to my terrible aim, I missed. I was trying my level best to not get hit, but this cruel game is all about getting hit and hitting others.
Many students were already hit and those included Michael, Isaac, Beth, Samuel, Jason, Nick, and others whose names I don't know yet. Then Kate got hit by a ball on her leg and fall down. I quickly moved towards her, temporarily forgetting about defense. That was my grave mistake because when I did, a ball hit me right on the back of my head. The world spun and I blinked my eyes to get a grasp on my surroundings. But it was useless, because I dropped on the ground and darkness started to surround me. It's official now, I hate dodgeball! The last thing I saw was the victorious smirk of Melissa before I slipped into complete darkness.
