Violet's POV
.
.
I was extremely nervous. Today was my first day in Riverwood High School. I was starting school here as a senior. Finishing my breakfast, I kissed my mom's cheek and picked up my bag pack. She said, "Good luck, honey. I love you!"
"Love you too, mom."
I was walking today because my dad left early as it was his first day too. Oh I forgot to introduce myself to you. I'm Violet Steele. I'm 17. I'm your typical plain girl with a 5'5" height, plain hazel eyes and shoulder-length red hair. I was bullied a lot because of my plain looks and nerdy dressing. Then my dad got promoted and we had to move to New York. Hence my first day in school. That reminded me that I was almost at the school. I took a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
Opening the door, I went in and straight to the receptionist. She was a young lady in her late 30s. She smiled, "Yes, how may I help you?"
I managed a smile back despite my nervousness, "Hello, I'm Violet Steele, the new girl. May I have my schedule, please?"
"Of course, here it is. Have a good day!"
"You too," said I walking away.
I looked at the papers in my hands. Studying the map, I went to the lockers and opened mine with the code provided in my schedule. I put away my extra books and closed it. Taking a deep breath, I started walking towards the homeroom.
Now that I noticed, many people were looking at me curiously, making me a lot more nervous than I already was. You see, I had never liked attention, and therefore I had always tried very hard to stay out of everybody's way. Suddenly the whispers stopped and I looked up to see what caused them to stop. I saw that a girl was entering the doors. She was simply gorgeous with long blonde hair, blue eyes and 5'6" height, dressed in short shorts and a revealing top. I felt so self-conscious in my baggy T-shirt and loose jeans. She confidently made her way to the receptionist and took her schedule. Soon three other girls joined her and they started walking away. When she was out of sight, the conversations started again in the hallway.
Just then I realized that I was going to be late to homeroom if I didn't start moving now. This thought made me start walking real fast towards where the class is located. Just when I turned a corner, I bumped into someone and gasps were heard all around me. I fell down and my books went flying to the floor. I looked up to see who I bumped into and when I did, I couldn't look away. He was 6'2" with blonde hair, high cheek bones, light stubble and ear piercings. He was wearing washed jeans with a white T-shirt and a leather jacket. He was smoking hot!
"Watch where you going, freak!" his deep and annoyed voice struck my ears, successfully bringing me out of my stupor. He didn't sound pleased and didn't even helped me up!
"S-sorry. I was jus__" I started.
"Just go away!", he cut me off rudely.
"Hey! Just what is your problem, huh?" I said standing up, "That was rude!"
He looked surprised that I snapped at him. Then his beautiful blue-green eyes flashed with fury and his features darkened a bit, "You! You are my problem! First, you didn't even have the fucking grace to walk straight without bumping into others. Then you are snapping at me like it's all my fucking fault! You know what! You will regret ever snapping at me. Just wait and watch!"
I was stunned. I could only stare at his face with wide eyes. I opened my mouth to say something, to apologize, but nothing came out. He stepped aside and went away, muttering, "Fucking idiots!"
By now the hallway was empty and I was the only one standing there. I was gathering my books and at that moment, a pair of girly sneakers came in my view. I looked up to see a girl standing there. She was cute at 5'3". She was really pretty even without makeup. She had chocolate brown hair and grey eyes. I stood up to my full height. She extended her hand and said, "I'm Kate Johnson and you are?"
I smiled nervously at her and shook her hand, "I'm Violet Steele. It's nice to meet you."Her smile widened, "Nice to meet you too. You are a senior like me, aren't you? Actually I've never seen you around."
I replied, a bit relaxed now, "Yeah. I'm new here."
"Okay then. Friends?"
"Friends," I smiled.
"Let's go. We are already late. I arrived late because my dad was driving me today," she explained and I nodded.
We arrived fifteen minutes late to homeroom. The teacher, Mr. William, didn't said anything as it was a first day of school. We sat down and he told us the basic boring things. Time passes in a blur and soon I was heading to my first class, biology, with Kate. Turned out, she was a nice girl, and shared almost all my classes. She didn't have many friends, only a best friend who was also her boyfriend.
The biology teacher, Mrs. Greene welcomed us both and told us to take our seats. Kate and I did as told. Then I saw him enter the class. He looked around and when he saw me, he made eye contact and smirked. I quickly looked away. He walked to the end of the class and took a seat. So the class began. I was asked to introduce myself, seeing that I was new. Nervously, I went to the front of the class and spoke softly, "Hello, my name is Violet Steele. I'm 17."
"Welcome, Miss Steele. Please take your seat," said the kind teacher. I sat down and started taking notes of what she was teaching.
The whole day was boring, except lunch. At lunch, Kate introduced me to her boyfriend after we both had bought our lunch. His name was Michael James. He was a good looking guy and seemed to be in love with Kate. He had dark hair, brown eyes and a good height of 5'10" too. I ate my lunch wishing that his threat was just a joke. That reminded that I still don't know who he is, so I decided to ask Kate and Michael, "By the way, Kate, who was that guy whom I bumped into today?"
She was surprised, "You mean you don't know him?"
I rolled my eyes at her, "I'm new here, remember?"
"Oh, yes. Well, he is the hottest guy in this school according to the female population of the school that is dying at his feet," at this, she rolled her eyes, "and the bad boy too. He smokes and rides a bike, you know the usual cliché. His name is Brad Parker."
"Oh!" I exclaimed, "I'm in trouble, aren't I?"
"That's right!" she replied. And this was when the bell rang.
