Violet's POV

.

.

At lunch the next day, I asked Kate if she knew what to get Isaac for his birthday, but she frowned and said that she didn't know that because Isaac is kinda closed up.

So that's why, here I am, on a Friday evening, wandering in a gigantic mall with none other than the Brad Parker, who was quite reluctant at first but then agreed to help me. He had scrunched up his eyebrows and frowned cutely when I had asked him what Isaac is like. And when I explained that I need a gift for his birthday, his expression had gone blank. After a few moments of contemplating, he finally agreed. Well, since Isaac is his friend too, we're both in the mall.

"C'mon. Let's go to the clothes section," he said, gently tugging at my arm.

"Clothes? We're getting him clothes for his birthday?" my eyebrows shot upwards.

He frowned, "Yeah, I won't want something like that, but he once said that he'd rather get clothes or even cologne than video games. And he was completely serious."

"Isn't he your friend? Shouldn't you know more than that?"

He thought for a moment, "I guess. But the thing is that he doesn't give away much. And he's more like a acquaintance, or a classmate. We're not close friends."

"Ohkay," I drawled out.

We entered the shop and almost every head turned to look at us. My self consciousness was heightened greatly. And to make it worse, no other person in that shop was female.

Sensing my discomfort, Brad took hold of my hand and intertwined our fingers, making my head snap up to meet his eyes. He gave me a reassuring smile, but didn't say anything. Instead he led me towards the shelves to get this over with. I decided to trust him and go with the flow.

It was around eight when he finally dropped me off at my place. I bought a set of three t-shirts for Isaac. They were in different colors; navy blue, forest green and yellow. Yes, yellow. I figured it would look good on him, the color I mean. They all had different designs and words on them. I hope he likes them, or at least pretend to like them. I'm really bad at this thing. Yes, even after Brad's help. Shrugs.

Brad just bought a body spray of some fancy brand which smelled amazing. I can't explain it. How do you even explain smells, by the way? It smelled like ocean, or something. I don't know, it just reminded me of my home back in California.

The exact moment my feet touched the ground of my driveway, mom opened the door, "You two are right on time. C'mon in, both of you!"

I looked at her wide eyes and Brad seemed lost for words. I opened my mouth, "M-mom, how'd you . . .?"

"Be quick. The dinner will be cold if you two continue with your pace," she motioned for us to get in and then turned around and walked in, disappearing from our sight.

"Guess I don't have a choice," he said, killing the engine and climbing down, "let's hear what she has to say."

I snorted, "She's just overly fond of you. You're not in trouble. Pass me the gift bags."

"I guess," he laughed, "Let's go, I got these bags."

"Alright."

Walking in, I closed the door behind us. He dropped the bags on the couch and then we both went to the dining room. Mom and dad were both there, waiting for us.
