Violet 's POV

.

.

The rest of the school time passed by in a trance. I don't know what the teachers taught or what my friends said to me at the end of the day. Heck, I don't even know which class I've just attended.

I'm walking to the parking lot at the moment where Brad has told me to meet him at the end of the day. I'm nervous, to be honest. The way he speeds the bike is dangerous, but that's not why I'm a nervous wreck. I know that if I go with him today, it'd make it final. I don't have it in me to see him every day, early in the morning and not fall harder for him. Not when he shows his sweet side. I need to get over these feelings, but it's kinda impossible when he's the one driving me to and from school.

When I reached the spot where his bike was parked, he was already there, leaning on the bike lazily and texting. Instead of announcing my presence, I just stood there awkwardly, staring at his profile.

He frowned at something, most probably a text, and typed furiously. A minute or so later, he tucked his phone into his jeans pocket and straightened up. He glanced at me, "How long have you been standing here?"

I looked at him puzzled, "I . . . A minute maybe. What's wrong?"

"Nothing yet. Let's go," he said with a shrug and seated himself on his bike.

Hesitating for only a few seconds, I moved closer to the bike. Slowly and carefully, I secured myself on it, wrapping my arms around his torso.

He gave a small chuckle and I felt the vibration in me, making my cheeks redden.

"I don't have the helmet with me today as well. I'll bring it tomorrow. Hold on, Steele," his voice was calm but a little hoarse.

"Alright," I nodded.

He, then, started the bike and revved it. A moment later, he was speeding through the roads, making my arms tighten around him. My hair was flying wildly and my eyes were shut. Please God, don't let me die! I'm too young to go like this!

"Violet?"

His voice broke through my prayers, making me open my eyes slightly.

"Yes?"

"Are you trying to restrict my breathing?" His voice held amusement and I don't even know how I was hearing him over the wind.

I blushed and loosened my grip, "I'm sorry."

"It's okay. Now open your eyes and let go," he said, while slowing down a bit.

"What?" my eyes were wide open suddenly and my mouth dropped slightly.

I heard him sigh and slow down even more, "Stop being scared. Let go and enjoy the air moving through your hair and all that shit."

It was in that moment that I noticed the fact that we were nowhere near my house or school. In fact, it looked like we were moving away from my neighborhood.

"Where are we?"

"On a detour. Now try," his voice was soft and reassuring.

He was not speeding at the moment, so I did what he said, cautiously. I concentrated on the wind rushing past me, on the sounds of the birds, on the horns of the other vehicles, anything that distracted me from his speeding.

Slowly the fear of dying in a speeding accident subsided, and as excitement of it all took its place, I found myself enjoying the ride.

"See, it wasn't that hard," he said, glancing back and I saw that he was smiling.
