Violet's POV

.

.

"This is ridiculous, Michael!" a girl's voice struck my ears.

"It's not your fault, Kate," a boyish voice said with a sigh.

"But she was off guard cuz she was coming to me," she sounded guilty.

"It's okay, love. She will be fine," he soothed her.

It took me a few minutes to recognize these voices. They were Kate and Michael. I tried to open my eyes, but they felt heavy. I wanted to tell her that it wasn't her fault. I tried again and this time, my eyes obeyed me and opened. I looked around and found out that I was in office of the nurse of the school. Michael had his arms around Kate. I can tell that she was worried.

I cleared my throat and tried to sit up. But as I shifted, pain shoot through my head, making me groan. Kate rushed to my side, "Take it easy, Violet. You were hit on the head with a dodgeball. Do you need water?"

"Oh, yeah, some water would be good," I replied. My voice clearly showed pain.

She brought me a glass of water and helped me drink it. The cool liquid soothed my dry throat. She put the glass aside, "Does it hurt a lot?"

I said, "Not that much. But yes, it does hurt."

"The nurse was called by the principal. She will be here soon to give you some painkillers," Michael told me.

I nodded, "yeah, I could use that."

A few minutes later, a brunette woman who was probably in her mid 30s entered the room. She was wearing the lab coat, indicating that she is the nurse. She looked at me, "Hello, I'm Rosalie. How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay, other than this terrible pain in my head," I told her.

She went to her desk and when she came back, she had two tablets in her hand. She held them out to me, "Here, take these. It'll help with the pain."

I took them wordlessly from her. Kate handed me a glass of water and I swallowed the tablets, washing them down with water.

Rosalie spoke again, "When you feel better, you have to go to the principal's office. He had called for you and Melissa."

My eyes widened, "But I didn't do anything. It wasn't my fault at all. I'm the one who got hit."

She nodded, "He knows it too. Anyways, do you have another class, Violet?"

"Um, no," I looked at her confused.

"That's good. After meeting the principal, you can go home. But remember, you must rest today," she explained smiling.

"I will," I replied and she dismissed me.

I went to Mr. Olson's office with Kate by my side. Michael had gone to get his car. She stopped at the door, "It will be okay, Violet. I'll waiting for you right here."

I smiled and she gave me thumbs up. I turned and taking a deep breath, knocked on the door. I heard a deep voice saying, "Come in!"

I opened the door and went in. He was sitting in his chair, looking intimidating due to his eyes that held annoyance. I greeted politely, "Good afternoon, Sir!"

He eyed me, as if judging whether I'm innocent or not. Then he spoke in a low voice, "Yes, take a seat, Miss Steele."

I took a seat quietly. He continued, "Why do you think I will believe that you are not at fault here? After all, I caught you arguing with Brad and Melissa in the morning. What do you have to say about it?"
