Violet's POV

.

.

I was still trying to grasp the idea that Brad was the son of my father's boss. This fact could make my life a whole lot difficult than it already is. He was my bully, for heaven's sake! He would torment me to no end, knowing that I couldn't do anything against him because he was the freaking son of my dad's boss. What had I done to deserve such a fate! My life had taken the worst turn and nothing good could ever come out of this!

Derek Parker looked between the two of us, his eyes shinning with unconcealed curiosity, "Do you two know each other?"

Brad was the first to recover from the shock of seeing me here. He smiled devilishly in my direction and my heart gave a weird flutter. He has a beautiful smile! But the message his eyes were sending me, made me shiver. He had thought of something, which I was sure that I won't like.

He turned to look at his father and his smile disappeared. "Of course, we know each other, dad. We are friends," he told his father in what you would call a polite tone but I felt the coldness in his voice which he hadn't bother to conceal.

But I didn't have time to consider the tone of his voice as his words registered in my mind. My jaw literally hit the floor and a word escaped me, "What?"

Mom, dad, Mr. Parker and little Isabella stared at me because of my exclamation of surprise. Brad looked me straight in the eye and I could clearly see the warning there, agree with me or else...

I gulped and then nodded, "Oh, yes, we are friends."

Mr. Parker nodded, "I'm happy to hear that, Violet right?"

"Yes, sir. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Parker," I said, shaking his outstretched hand.

"Nice to meet you too. Please call me Derek," he nodded at me.

I smiled, "Sure, Derek."

He then started greeting my mom, but I didn't paid attention to them, because I had approached Isabella. I smiled at her softly, "Hello, Isabella. I'm Violet. How are you?" and extended my hand to her.

She grasped my hand to shake and then smiled shyly, "Hi, Violet. I'm good. You?"

I whispered to her, "Oh, I'm good. We are going to be friends, right?"

She nodded, "Of course, we will."

Mom's voice interrupted my conversation with Isabella, "Let's go to the dining room, okay?"

I took Isabella's hand in mine and we went to the dining room. She was such a cute girl with shoulder length black hair, blue green eyes like Brad's and soft facial features. She was wearing a cute white dress with multicoloured polka dots and white sandals. I helped her into the seat beside me and sat down myself.

Mom had already set the table before they arrived, so we went straight to eating. I looked around. Dad was sitting at the head of the table with mom on his left and me on his right. Derek was sitting on the other end of the table. Isabella was sitting beside me and Brad was beside mom. This is going to be the most awkward dinner of my life and that's saying a lot cuz I've attended many awkward dinners!
