Violet's POV
.
.
I woke up the next morning due to the sunlight glaring at me through the curtains of my window. Argh, I thought I had closed them completely last night. But the streaks of light were proving my thoughts wrong. I tried to cover my eyes but nothing worked. Groaning I sat up and looked at my alarm clock. It was only nine in the morning. I dragged my sorry ass to the bathroom and into the shower stall. Turning on the water, I waited for it to heat up. When the water became nice and warm, I stepped in after removing my pajamas.
Only fifteen minutes later, I was standing in front of the sink, my body wrapped in a fluffy white towel and my shoulder length ginger hair in another one. I quickly brushed my teeth and soaked the dripping water from my hair with the towel. I then left my hair to air-dry.
I went back to my closet and since I wasn't going anywhere today, I decided to wear denim shorts with a red tank top. I went downstairs to see mom up and ready. She was placing the decorations we bought yesterday at different places around the house. She must already have eaten. When she heard me, she turned to me, "Morning, honey. I've left some pancakes in the kitchen for you."
I smiled, "Good morning, mom. And yes, I'm starving, so I'd better go and eat."
She smiled and went back to the job at hand. I went to the kitchen and sure enough, there were pancakes waiting for me. I ate them like I hadn't eaten in days. Then I washed my plate and placed it in the dishwasher. I poured myself some coffee and taking the first sip, I wandered into the living room where dad was watching news on TV. I sat beside him, "Hey, dad. What are you doing?"
"I'm watching some TV before your mom orders me to do something else," he said grinning.
Mom's voice was heard from the dining room, "I heard that, Kev!"
"Sorry, babe! But it is the truth!" dad shouted back.
Mom laughed and then said, "I'm afraid that it is. Now go and mow the lawn. You promised that you would."
Dad groaned quietly, "Why the hell did I promised such a thing" and then shouted to her, "Fine, I'll do that now!" He got up and left through the backdoor.
I picked up the remote and searched for a good show to watch but nothing was to my taste. So I turned off the TV in frustration and decided to help mom. I went to the dining room and asked her, "Mom, is there anything you want me to do?"
"Sure, honey. Can you go to the supermarket to buy groceries for tonight's dinner?"
"Sure, but how am I supposed to come back with all the grocery, on foot?" I looked at her questioningly.
"Don't worry about that. Just give me a call when you're done and either your dad or I will come to get you. Alright?" she suggested.
"Okay, I will," I nodded and she handed me the list and money. I ran upstairs and unplugged my iPhone, putting it in the pocket of my shorts. Then I slipped on my sneakers and my white cardigan. Then I went downstairs and waving to mom, I went out.
The supermarket was not that far and I had seen many times on my way to school. It came in my sight. It was a big building, first floor being the supermarket and upper storeys being apartments. I took a trolley and walked in. Looking at the list given by mom, I went to the first aisle and quickly started to gather the things I needed.
I don't know how much time had passed since I started collecting the groceries my mom needed. All I knew was that I needed to hurry up. I looked down at the list again. Milk, check. Eggs, check. Rice, check. Cheese, check. Pasta, check. Meat, check. Chicken, check. Snacks, check. Spices, check. Now what is remaining, vegetables and herbs. Yes, that's the last things. I tucked the list into the pocket of my shorts and just as I looked up, my trolley collided with another trolley. The person looked up and my jaw dropped open. That was Brad freaking Parker!
