The sounds of laughter and sniggering came from behind the cubicle curtain. Charlie approached, pulling the blue sheet to reveal where the noise was coming from.
Connie and Jacob turned around, to find Charlie standing in front of them. Phew, at least it wasn't Elle.
"Something funny?" He asked, wondering what had possibly made Connie Beauchamp laugh so much. The pair stood closely together, blocking off the sight of the bed.
"Sorry, that was, that was me Charlie." Jacob stuttered, putting his professional face back on.
"There doesn't seem to be a patient there." Charlie frowned, looking over Connie's shoulder, confused.
"Yeah you see that's what's funny." Jacob had to bite his lip to stop the laughter from taking over again.
"Urm, they left a present." Connie smirked.
Charlie raised his eyebrows "and that's funny?"
Jacob stepped aside, revealing the present left on the bed. The couple began to snigger again at the sight of a curled up poo sitting on the centre of the bed.
"Oh trust me that's not funny." Charlie did not laugh, just pointed at the disgusting present left by a patient, screwing his face up. Jacob walked up to the bed and picked up the poo with his bare hands, he squeezed it a couple of times, showing Charlie that it was fake.
Charlie's frown turned into a small smile, "so where is the patient?"
Jacob shrugged, "I dunno."
"The toilets." Connie and Jacob burst into fits of laughter again. Charlie just smirked at Connie's witty response.
"Ok, back to business."
They tried to calm themselves down, still unable to wipe the smiles off their faces.
"Sorry, Charlie, sorry." Jacob sighed.
"Ok, Rita's called in sick, so we're a nurse down. Connie, their's an RTC coming in, ETA 5 minutes ok?" He informed the pair, quickly and efficiently.
"Yep, well I've got a patient to find." Jacob smirked, beginning to walk away.
Charlie squeezed the fake poo in his hands. "I will get to the bottom of this." Jacob turned around, sniggering again whilst Connie walked away, covering her mouth with her hand to prevent herself from bursting out with laughter.
She sighed, walking down the corridor of her ED. Since this morning, Connie hadn't seen Jacob once and she really needed a break. Today had been long and hard with casualties coming in from car accidents and it was only lunch time.
She entered the coffee shop and joined the back of the queue.
Jacob left cubicles and scanned the room for Connie, wanting a much needed break. Hopefully, she will be in the shop that he was going to enter.
A smile spread across his face, spotting her from behind, standing in the queue. He took a moment to admire her ass in those slim black trousers, before walking up to her.
The feeling of a pair of arms snaking around her waist from behind didn't startle Connie once. She knew exactly who it was, letting the ends of her lips curl into a smile. "Guess who..." Jacob whispered in her ear, still standing behind her.
"Hmmm... Staff Nurse Masters, you are a naughty boy creeping up on me like that." Connie turned to face him, slipping her arms around his waist.
"Sorry, it's not my fault that your irresistible." Her cheeks blushed slightly before placing a kiss on his lips. They both smiled at each other, gazing into the other's eyes.
"Next please." The moment was broken by the shop lady. Connie pulled away from him, stepping up to the counter.
"Sorry about that. I'll have a latè, regular size please and he'll have?"
"Oh, espresso please and I'll be getting those." Jacob threw a five pound note on to the counter before Connie had a chance to stop him.
"Jacob please, don't be silly." Jacob scoffed at her.
"How am I the one being silly exactly?" He frowned as Connie raised an eyebrow.
"Fine, but I'm getting dinner later." She took the two cups of coffee from the lady and thanked her before walking away.
"And your going to cook that as well are you?" Connie smirked at Jacob, throwing in the 'you can't cook' card again.
"Yes, actually, I will be." Jacob laughed slightly. They both began to walk out of the ED drinking their coffees.
"Please sweet-cheeks, for the children's sake, you don't want to give them food poisoning do you." Connie acted hurt, dropping her jaw and placing a hand to her chest.
"That's not fair, my cookings not that bad."
Connie thought about this for a moment. "Fine, we'll go out for dinner with the kids, it's a Saturday so theirs no school tomorrow."
Jacob punched the air, getting his way, "Nice choice Beauchamp, Nice choice."
Connie shook her head at his cockiness. "I'd watch it if I were you, get too cocky and you'll be eating my speciality... Cabbage stew." She smirked, watching Jacob's grim expression, pulling a revolting face.
"I'm so sorry, Sweet-cheeks, please don't ever make me eat that." Connie laughed at his pathetic pleading.
Jacob tossed his coffee cup into the bin outside. He then grabbed Connie by the waist and pulled her in towards him, causing her to shriek slightly.
"Staff Nurse Masters what do you think you are doing?" She smirked, still holding the cup of coffee.
"Saying sorry." He bent down, beginning to kiss her neck, making his way up towards her ear. As much as Connie wanted to pull away, he was simply irresistible.
"Ok, ok, do you not remember what happened the last time you apologised to me at work?" Connie raised an eyebrow, pulling away to look at him.
"That was kind of fun though. We should do it more often."
"Oh Mr. Masters, you are being so bad today" she squinted her eyes with a pout, which Jacob thought was adorable.
"Sorry, Mrs. Beauchamp. Anyway, we better get back to work. We'll leave here at six yeah?"
"Yep, sounds good." She pecked his lips before throwing her coffee cup in the bin.
They headed back into the ED hand-in-hand, unable to wipe the smiles off of their faces.
A little fun chapter for you guys, hope you enjoy. Love you all💗
