Connie drove home at 11pm that night. Grace would be waiting for her at home, as it was a Saturday. Connie had no idea how she was going to tell her. What if she wanted to go back and live with Sam?
Connie pulled up on her drive and got out of the car. She saw Grace through the window watching TV on the sofa. With a shaky hand she opened the door and walked into her house. "Grace?"
"I'm in here mum." She said sleepily. Connie walked into the living room and sat next to Grace on the sofa.
"Hey sweetie, can I talk to you for a moment?" Grace kept her eyes on the screen of the TV. "Please Grace, this is really important."
"Fine." Grace sighed turning off the TV and looking up at her mum.
"Thank you, do you remember when you said how you'd love a baby brother or sister to look after?" Connie anxiously waited for Grace's answer.
"Yeah I guess... It would be fun, but why are you asking me this?" Grace frowned.
"If I said that I'll step down as clinical lead, would you let Jacob and I be together." Grace thought about this for a moment. She never disliked Jacob and if she made her mum happy then why not.
"Yeah, if you stepped down as clinical lead then that would mean less hours right?" Connie nodded "Yes, so I'll still be able to spend time with you I promise."
She was surprised when Grace hugged her tightly. "Thank you. I hated fighting with you mum." This brung a tear to Connie's eye. Even though she hadn't told Grace she was pregnant yet, they were on the right track to becoming a happy family again.
Grace pulled away from her, "Can Jacob come round? I'd really like to say sorry to him, he was always so nice to me even when I was being rude." Grace felt guilty for putting him throughout the past few months.
"That's because Jacob cares about you as much as I do Grace. I'll ring him now." Connie placed a kiss on her forehead and stepped out of the room with a huge grin on her face.
"Connie!" He answered straight away. He was so nervous for how Grace had taken the news.
"Hey Jacob, can you come round? And don't worry it was Grace's idea, she seems to have come round to us being together." Jacob smiled into the phone, he hadn't felt this kind of joy for a very long time. He couldn't believe that Grace was happy for them to have a baby together. "I'll be there in ten. I love you Sweet cheeks." She smiled at his nickname for her.
"Love you more muscles." Connie quietly said down the phone.
"Impossible." Jacob put the phone down and got straight in his car, he was literally bouncing with excitement.

Knock Knock. "I'll get it!" Grace jumped up and sprinted to the door wanting to make up with Jacob. She opened the door and Jacob smiled down at her, "Hey firecracker."
"Hi Jacob. I just really wanted to say sorry for breaking you and mum up, I never really thought that you both loved each other so much." Jacob smiled at her innocent apology.
"That's alright, so what brought this on? Did you want a little brother or sister that bad?" Jacob laughed, but soon stopped when he noticed Connie's reaction, as she froze in the doorway of the living room, eyes wide. "What are you talking about? Is mum pregnant?" Grace frowned at him and turned around to look at her mum.
"I thought you told her" said Jacob through gritted teeth. Grace's jaw dropped as she figured out what was going on.
"I can't believe this!" Grace shook her head and ran upstairs into her room, slamming the bedroom door behind her.
Connie ran after her upstairs, desperately wanting to explain herself. She knocked on Grace's bedroom door. "Grace, please let me in and I can explain everything."
"Just go away!" She shouted back at her.
"No Grace, I'm not leaving. I don't care if I have to sit here for the rest of my life to make you see sense." Connie sat down leaning against the bedroom door. "When I drop down as Clinical Lead then I'll have half the hours that I have now and I'll get maternity leave when the baby comes. Jacob would be a great father and step-dad, you just have to give him a chance. I know that I said it will just be me and you when you got off that plane, but this is exciting right? Your going to be a big sister for the first time. Please forgive me Grace... I love you so much." A tear fell down Connie's cheek, as the door that she was leaning up against opened. She fell back on the floor and Grace smirked at her ; then when she couldn't hold it in anymore she burst into fits of laughter. Connie giggled at her, as she got to her feat. Grace gave her mum a big hug, "I'm sorry... and I am actually really excited about being a big sister."
Jacob had been listening from downstairs and smiled to himself. Everything was going to turn out great. Jacob jogged upstairs to go and join the pair who were still hugging. "Group hug Jacob!" Grace opened up her arm for him.
"How can I say no to that!" Jacob joined them in a group hug and picked both of the girls up by their waists and spun them around. Everyone was laughing and for the first time in a very long time everyone was happy.
