Connie sat at home on the couch waiting for Jacob to arrive home from work. It had been a pretty boring, relaxed day. She went shopping at around 1pm to get the final bits and pieces for when the baby arrives. Once she was home she watched day-time TV for the rest of the day.
The sound of Grace's key in the door was the most exciting thing she'd heard all day and Connie slowly got up off the sofa to see her daughter. Life was difficult being as big as Connie was. She'd forgotten how hard it is to be pregnant since she had Grace, but she loved it this time round.
"Hey sweetie." Connie hugged Grace.
"Hi mum, how was your day? Do you think the baby will come soon? Oh my god I can't wait! Is the nursery completely set up now?" Grace excitedly asked Connie a load of questions, which she'd forgotten within 5 seconds of her asking them.
"Grace, slow down. I'm not sure when the baby is going to come. Oh yeah I was going to ask you, Mikey, Joey or Daniel?" Grace took her shoes off and went to sit in the lounge with her mum.
"What are you talking about? Mikey or Joey?" Grace asked confused.
"What name do you prefer for the baby?"
"Ohhh... erm probably Joey."
"I love both, I guess Jacob will have the deciding choice, because I just cannot decide." She sighed looking at her watch, Jacob wouldn't be in for another hour.
"Well, Jacob won't be home for another hour, so what do you want to do?" Asked Connie, thinking of ways to pass the time.
"Oh Why don't we make pizzas!" Grace jumped up excitedly.
"Great idea Gracie-" Connie held her stomach, as she felt a sharp cramp across her bump.
"Mum? What's wrong? Are you alright?" Grace panicked not knowing what to do.
"Yes darling I'm fine. Let's go and make those pizzas yeah?" Connie stood up once the contraction had passed.
"Mum, are you sure your ok?" Grace raised her eyebrows and put her hands on her hips just like her mum does.
"Yes Gracie, I think I just had a little tummy pain that's all." Grace didn't think much more of it and followed Connie into the kitchen.

"Right I'll grate the cheese, you find the bits you want to put on the pizzas." Connie got the cheese from the fridge and began to grate. They had just started to roll out the dough, when Connie felt the pain again. Her hands automatically went to her bump. "Mum it's happening again isn't it. Your in labour mum I know it." Grace excitedly picked up Connie's phone. "What's the passcode?"
"1234, ok maybe your right, call Jacob for me."
"For such a smart person that is the dumbest passcode ever." Grace laughed. Connie smirked at her walking back into the living room to sit down.

"Hey sweet cheeks." Jacob answered the phone.
"Jacob its me. I think mum's going into labour, what shall I do?" The thought of Jacob becoming a dad sunk in and he went black for a moment.
"Oh my god. Ok Grace just stay calm, I'll be there soon."
"I think your the one that needs to stay calm." Grace laughed at his shaky voice.

"What's going on Jacob?" Asked Rita noticing the nervous expression on his face.
"Connie's going into labour... I'm going to be dad!" Jacob smiled nervously.
"That's so exciting! Ok you better go, I'll see you soon!" Rita gave him a good luck thumbs up and got back to work. Jacob left his stuff at work and headed straight to his house car. He put the key in and raced towards home.

"Grace, I need you to go and get the baby bag in the nursery for me." The contractions were coming on a lot more frequently now and she knew that the baby was going to come soon. Grace ran upstairs to get the bag. "Where are you J?" Connie said to herself wanting him desperately.

"Come on, come on!" Jacob beeped his horn at the car in front who was driving ridiculously slow. Finally the car turned and Jacob accelerated down his road and swung the car onto the drive. He jumped out and ran up to the front door, turning the key. "In here Jacob." Connie said from the living room.
"Hey sweet cheeks, you ready to go to the hospital?" Jacob sat down next to her. Another contraction came and Connie squeezed Jacob's hand.
"Ok, let's go." Connie stood up, once the pain had passed, with the help of Jacob and the three made their way to the car. "Alright babe almost there." Jacob pulled up at the hospital, but at the maternity side of it. He helped Connie out of the car and they made their way in. Jacob walked up to the desk as Connie and Grace sat down in the waiting area. "Hi, my partner's in labour, it's Connie Beauchamp."
"Oh the famous Mrs. Beauchamp. Ok if you'd like to come through." The midwife led the way to a room. Connie lied down on the bed and the midwife checked to see how far along she was.

"Ok, your almost 10cm. Do you feel the need to push?" Asked the blond midwife. Connie nodded feeling another contraction coming. She changed into a gown and began to push. "Come on Con, you can do this."Connie squeezed his hand, as she pushed as hard as possible. Grace was waiting outside, because she didn't really want to have the sight of her mother's vagina in her face. "I can see the head, your almost there. Just one more for me." Connie gave another big push and the baby popped out screaming.
He was beautiful, once the midwives cleaned him up Connie held him close to her. Grace ran into the room to see her newborn baby brother. A happy tear ran down Connie's cheek. "I'm so proud of you." Jacob placed a kiss on Connie's head.
"What are we going to name him?" Grace asked.
"Joey." Connie and Jacob said simultaneously and everyone laughed. It was the beginning of a beautiful chapter. The happiest day of their lives and it had only just begun.
