"For goodness sake Shawn!" My father groaned. "Go out and make some friends, it's a lovely day and all you do is sit and write music. It's meant to be a break from music; a chance to relax" he lectured. He was right, it is meant to be a break but what is there for me to do. It was my mom's idea to come to The Hamptons for the summer and so far we had been here for a week.

"I can go and write outside." I reasoned.

"Shawn" he scolded. I huffed.

"Fine, I'll go" I slipped on my flip flops, grabbed a towel and placed my sunglasses on my eyes. I walked the short journey to the beach and took my flip flops off before stepping on the scorching sand. I found a place which was calm and peaceful and placed down my towel. I slipped my shirt off and put it underneath my head before lying back and falling into a nap.

"Is he okay?"

"He hasn't moved for hours."

"Do you think he is alive?"

"Of course, dumb ass! He's breathing, look at his chest"

"Girl! it's hard not to look at those pecks and, uh, those abs"

I heard a slight chuckle and my eyes fluttered open and I was surrounded by two girls. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"He's awake" one whispered.

I sat up straight and took my glasses off. I glanced at one of the girls. Gosh, she was gorgeous. She had tight blonde curls and slightly tanned skin as well as bright blue eyes and freckles across the bridge of her nose and across her forehead.

"Hi" she smiled. I smiled back and greeted her. "Sorry to disturb you, we didn't know if you were alive or not. It's sounds stupid, I know." A red tinge rose slightly to her freckled cheeks and her friend stood up and ran away.

"No, no. It's fine" I said quickly. Her smile was contagious, her teeth were perfectly white and here teeth were gorgeously straight. "What's going on over there?" I said referring to the bunch of teenagers in the water with large inflatables.

"Oh, we're celebrating my birthday! You should come and hang with us" she gushed. Her smile still beaming brightly, hopefulness in her eyes. She placed out her hand and I grasped a hold of it. She ran through the sand pulling along with it till we reached her friends. There was a mixture of boys and girls all scattered around on lilos and blow up floats.

"Guys, this is-" everyone's attention turned towards us and she let go of my hand and looked away a little.

"Shawn" I mumbled a little.

"He's going to join us for our party!" They cheered and we ran about in the water until it was time for cake.

Y/n sat on the towels in the middle of the circle with her cake in her hands. The candles were burning brightly and it was now about 11:00pm. Everyone sang happy birthday in a chorus and we all cheered once she had blew her candles out.

"Make a wish" I urged and she closed her eyes right and smirked.

I was lying on my stomach at the beach next to y/n watching the sunset as she lay in her back facing the sky. It was peaceful and there was hardly anybody around so the only noise was the waves peacefully crashing against the surface.

"Remember that time that me and my friend thought you were dead." She chuckled. "It was my birthday last year and you joined me and my friends in the water and then afterwards you made me make a wish on my birthday cake?" She said. I nodded. "Well, I can still remember my wish" she smiled tucking a piece of hair behind her ear and then scooping a handful of sand and watching it trickle through her fingers.

"Can you? What is it?"

"Well, I wished that on my 18th birthday maybe I would be able to steal a kiss from the boy that I met that day" she blushed intensely as she began to shake her head. "But thinking back, that's a stupid wish which is probably not going to come true and it probably sounds a little stalkerish-"

I cut her off by placing my lips on to hers. Out lips moulded perfectly together and she moved over so she was straddling me. She placed her handy I my neck and gently pulled me closer. Finally, we both pulled away unwillingly to take a breath of air. She smiled and I smiled back.

"Happy birthday, y/n" I chuckled. "And next time try not to mumble as much."  I moved back down towards her pressing our lips together again.
