"Yes mom!" I heard Shawn groan in annoyance. I chuckled as I hurriedly ran down the stairs after my usual Sunday nap and cuddling session with Shawn. He was chopping some carrots and dropping them into the pan.

"How long has the chicken been in the oven?" She should through the speaker.

"About half an hour" I could now see her face through the iPad screen as it was balanced on a stand next to the stove. She nodded and he continued what he was doing whilst creating small talk.

I bounced into the kitchen wrapped in the blanket from our bed and wrapped my arms tightly around Shawn's waist.

"Karen!" I screeched and she laughed.

"Hello, my favourite daughter-in-law!" She greeted.

"I'm your only daughter-in-law" I said rolling my eyes and holding back a smile.

"I know but you're still my favourite" I smiled and pressed a kiss onto Shawn's shoulder blade.

"Sometimes, I feel as if you want your 18-year-old son to hurry up and put a ring on it" Shawn groaned as he continued to prepare the veg for our roast dinner. "I mean I love her but I'm only young. I don't want to get tied down too early" he said putting emphasis on the 'too'. I smacked his arm and he let out a laugh.

It was times like this I cherished. Times when me and Shawn were spending time together and cooking as well as taking time from his busy schedule to FaceTime his family and cook together. Something he promised his mom to do since the day he moved to LA with me.

Karen and I had a lot in common. The main ones being we're both from Britain, we both enjoy cooking and we both love Shawn. We got on since the day we met and I love her like my own mother.

"What are you cooking, Karen?" I asked.

"Spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread" she said as she directed the camera at the bowl.

"Mmm, looks delicious" I moaned and she laughed. I smiled at her and Shawn moved from my grip.

I continued to chat with Karen whilst I helped Shawn dish out our plates. We said goodbye and Shawn took our plates to the table. I sat opposite Shawn and quickly tied my hair into a bun. I handed him a knife and fork.

"I love your mom!" I chuckled.

"She loves you too, maybe more than me sometimes" I grinned at him and started to clear my plate.

"Oh, Shawn! It's so good!" I moaned at the taste of the food.

"I'm sure I've heard you say that before" he smirked. I rolled my eyes.
