Sorry I took like 7 months to update it! Y'all probably forgot you even requested anything😂😂😂

Shawn and I were sat on the couch in the living room catching up on a few missed episodes of Grey's Anatomy with a bowl of popcorn and a glass of wine each. Our 15-year-old daughter, Eliza, was upstairs getting ready to go out with her friends so Shawn and I had the house to ourselves for the evening.

"Jess, you know we have the house to ourselves tonight" he stated. I hummed in response. "And we haven't had that privilege in so long so I was thinking" He started kissing my neck and his hands started to move further up my thigh. "Maybe we could-"

His voice was drowned out by the sound of the doorbell ringing. He let out a groan and stretched out his longs limbs before climbing from the couch and heading to the door.

"Hi."

"Who are you?" I paused the TV. Shawn's voice was a lot deeper than the others and a lot more stern.

"I'm Lucas, Eliza's friend."

"Okay, what do you want Eliza for?" Shawn questioned and I rolled my eyes at his childish behaviour.

"We're going out together."

"Anybody else going?"

"No sir."

"Just the two of you?"

"Yes sir."

"I see," there was silence and I could tell Shawn was trying his best to act scary and he was successful as I could basically hear Lucas trembling in his shoes. "Where are you going?"

"I'm not sure, maybe the carnival i-"

"Dad!" Eliza groaned. I chuckled to myself as I heard his feet run down the stairs. "What are you doing?"

"Nothing, just having a little chat with your friend"

I stood up and peaked my head around the door. Eliza was dressed in a pair of denim shorts, a white bodysuit with a straight neckline and spaghetti straps, white high top converse and a matching denim jacket.

"You're not going out like that" Shawn stated harshly. Eliza's eyes widened as did mine. Shawn was never strict with Eliza, she had him wrapped around her little and he never commented on her clothes or outfit choices.

"What, dad- why? Mom"

"Because I said so Eliza, you're hardly wearing any clothes." He paused. "Go change."

"Dad, its like 84 degrees out!" I chewed on my lip as I stepped into view.

"I said, go change"

Lucas was stood awkwardly on the doorstep and I walked over to him to have a little talk whilst Shawn and Eliza continued to bicker. I explained that it was probably best for him to go home and that I would get Eliza to text him so they could arrange to go out another time when Shawn wasn't home.

I closed the door over and Shawn and Eliza looked paused and looked at me.

"Lucas has gone home." I said.

"Good." Shawn sneered.

"God dad! Why are you acting like this?"

"Because I'm your father and you're my daughter and I am not going to let a pubescent boy break your heart." Shawn said finally as if he was closing off the argument but Eliza wouldn't let it go.

She was extremely stubborn, something she got from both Shawn and I.

"He's not going to break my heart. We're just friends."

"I don't care! Your mother and I were just friends." He shot and she rolled her eyes.

"Why do you care anyway? You're hardly ever home!" She shouted and the room fell deadly silent. I sharp breath caught in my throat.

Eliza knew Shawn always got upset at the mention of him being away for the majority of her life, although he took frequent breaks it was never enough for him. He would always miss out on milestones in her life and it would break his heart. He watched her grow through an iPhone screen on the other side of the world and never got to experience things that normal fathers do.

"Dad, I-"

"Go to your room" he muttered. His head hanging low and he ran his tongue over his lips.

"Dad, please"

"Eliza, I said go to your room!" He shouted causing me and Eliza to flinch at the sound of his loud, booming voice. Eliza's lip quivered before she sprinted up the stairs.

Shawn sharply turned and stalked off towards the kitchen where he grabbed himself a beer out of the fridge, placed it on the island, sat down and rested his head in his hands- tugging at his hair in frustration. I followed him and placed my arms around his neck and shoulders before leaning my chin onto his right shoulder and pressing a kiss on to it.

Shawn sniffled before picking up his beer and taking a sip. He let out a huff and the sound of the beer bottle hitting the tiled table echoed through the deadly silent house.

"Do you think I'm a bad dad?"

"No, baby, I don't" I paused. "You're such an incredibly amazing dad-"

"Then why do I feel like I'm her worst enemy?"

"Because, Shawn, she's growing up. You only want what's best for her but she doesn't see it as that yet; she sees it as you being unreasonable and annoying so she's bound to rebel." I slid into the chair besides him and took his hand in mine. "and she is trying to become more independent, ya know cause of puberty and her-"

"Oh right, okay- I get it." I let out a laugh.

"But you want her to be your baby forever because you missed her growing up for so long and you want to grasp as much as you can in your hands before it's too late and it's not realistic, she growing up and she's changing and you gotta let her. Changing isn't a bad thing, it never was." He let out a small chuckle and I ran my hand through his hair and around the perimeter of his face.

"You're amazing you know that" he smiled and pressed a kiss onto my lips. I nodded.

"Now go, make it up to her. We all know she's a daddy's girl; she could never stay mad at you."
