There she was in all her glory

There she was in all her glory. Walking down the corridor with her best friend, kitty besides her. (that's me! Deal with it) She was unbelievable popular and undoubtedly gorgeous; every guy wanted to be with her and sadly I was one of them. Yet I wasn't a major contender in the game of winning the heart of y/n y/l/n.  She had every guy drooling at her feet and if they weren't; well, they probably didn't notice her walking through the corridor.

I didn't stand a chance. I lacked courage to even talk to her never mind ask her out. She is a living, breathing Goddess yet I am gawky, nerd who plays the guitar. I was hopelessly boring but she was endlessly fascinating and I couldn't help feel that if people were rain, I was a drizzle and she was a hurricane. (Credit to the one and only John Green! I couldn't help myself)

She was carrying a balloon and multiple bags filled with flowers and what not which only means it's her birthday. She thanked everyone for their sweet comments or their wishes and she was ever so grateful you could see it by the glimmer in her eyes.

"Now's your chance bro!" Ian whispered as she approached. "All you need to do is wish her happy birthday and then she will acknowledge your existence, easy right?"

"Yeah! Easy" I assured myself. She slowly approached talking to Kitty and laughing, smiling and doing all sorts of things which make me fall even more in love with her than I already am.

"Hey Shawn!" She beamed as she noticed me. God! I must've been staring- wait, she knows my name.

"Oh, er- hey y/n. H-h-happy Birthday" I smiled trying to act as cool as possible.

"Thank you!" She laughed. "I guess the balloons and the mass of flowers and bags gave it away?" He chuckled. I nodded.

"Kinda-"

"I'm gonna head to class" kitty announced as she texted. The nodded each other goodbye before y/n turned her attention back to me.

"so, I'm hanging out tonight with a few friend down at the bowling alley, wanna come with me?" She asked.

"Sure"

"Great, by the way would it be okay if you was my day?" She bit her lip and flushed a bright shade of red. She glanced away and her confidence flew right down the hall and took a left out the door.

"Yes!" I said a little too enthusiastically. "I mean, if you want it too" I let out a breathy chuckle. She beamed again.

"Cool, pick me up at 8?" I nodded. She grabbed my hand and wrote down her number before picking up her bags again and heading off to her next class.
