Sick At School

Holloween is tomorrow and all our costumes are ready. I'm going as spider-man Emily is bat girl. Halo is going as hipster sleeping beauty Andrew is going to be a vampire. Zac is going as a papa bear and he is taking Zane as a bear cub.
We are meeting up at Zac's house because he is lives in a big neighborhood. Halo is spending the night. After work she comes to my house she hooked some gold chains onto her jean short shorts and she is wearing lacy gloves with no finger holes except for the thumb.
Her shirt is a crop top that falls over her shoulder with a tank top under it. She is wearing some high tops to. Holloween shows up on Saturday and we all get ready. We spray each other down with bug spray. I get the buckets and big bag. I put them in the truck and get the stroller. We go to Zac's house.
"Hey." He says as he opens the door with Zane in his arms.
"Hey aren't you cute." I say.
"Thank you."
"Yeah....I was talking to the baby."
"Sure." He rolls his eyes. I laugh at him. He grabs his stroller and candy bag.
"Lets be real you just want candy and are to lazy to go to the store."
"Yeah pretty much." I pull the stroller out and the kids get in. I hand them their candy bags. We go to the first house and the kids go up with Zac. They collect their candy and come back. They climb back into the stroller and we keep going.
"Damn mosquitoes." Halo says smacking her arm.
"Don't you love Halloween?" I ask.
"Yeah sure I can't believe it is actually warm out."
"Yeah I know."
"Lets walk to the gas station and get drinks then to the next neighborhood." Zac says. We all agree with him.
"That's a good idea." I say.
"Yeah." He gives Zane a teething ring and Zane starts chewing on it. We finish up at the neighborhood we are at. The big candy bag is half way full. We stop at the gas station and the kids go potty. Zac changes Zane's diaper and feeds him.
We head out and go to the next neighbor hood. We trick or treat there until 9:00 then we head back to Zac's house. The kids have fallen alseep. I put them in the car and we leave. We go home and I get the kids out of their costumes and into bed. Halo and I put on regular clothes and go to bed to. We lay there for a minute though.
"Well I had fun." I say.
"Me to."
"I think they did to."
"Oh yeah they had fun."
"I'm going to sleep."
"Yeah me to." We lay down and I turn the side lamp off we go to sleep.
*Morning*
I wake up and Halo wasn't there I get up and pee. I go to the kitchen and Halo was making food. The kids where up and eating. I give Halo a kiss and sit down.
"So kids what did you think? Did you have fun?" I ask them.
"Yeah I did." Andrew says as he puts eggs in his mouth.
"Me to." Emily says.
"That's good, Emily I never asked you what people thought of your dress and shoes."
"My teacher asked where I got it. I told her Target and she asked if you got it for me and I said that Halo did."
"So she liked it?"
"Yeah she did so did lots of girls they liked my hair and nails to."
"That's good." Halo gives me my food and she sits down to eat to. I eat and do the dishes. Halo goes home around noon. The kids lay down for a nap and I do some house chores I make sure that we are ready for Monday.
*Monday*
I get up and Emily comes to me.
"Jace I don't feel good." She says wrapped in a blanket.
"You don't look good." She is pale her nose is red. Her forehead is warm.
"Do you wanna go to school?" I ask her. I feel a little weary sending her but if she feels she can I will let her.
"Yeah."
"Okay go get dressed." She gets dressed and gets on the bus she didn't eat breakfast though. I go to work and around 11 my phone rings. I answer it.
"Hello." I say.
"Hi is this Jace?" A female voice greets me.
"Yes."
"Hi I'm calling for Emily. She isn't feeling to good and threw up at morning recess we need you to come get her if possible."
"Okay I will see what I can do."
"Okay thank you." I go to Dan's office he lets me leave and stay out until Emily is better. I go to the school. I go to the nurses office and Emily was laying on the bed with a trash can by her. I go by her and she sits up.
"You must be Jace." The nurse comes to me.
"Yes."
"I'm the school nurse Emily had thrown up at recess. She came in here threw up again and layed down he has a fever of 100 degrees."
"Okay thank you."
"You are welcome."
I pick her up and she coughs. Her eyes were blood shot. She was shivering. I take her outside to the car. I put her in and give her a plastic bag she groans.
"My tummy hurts." She says as she wraps her arm round it.
"I know baby we are going home if you have to throw up do it in the bag okay."
"Okay." I get in the car and she throws up and gets it in the bag she starts crying I get back out. I grab some napkins and wipe her face and she blows her nose.
"What's wrong sweetie?"
"My throat hurts." She keeps crying and I look in the back of the truck in the tool box. I find a new bag I put the old one in the bed and hand her the new one. I get in and get home before she throws up again.
She throws up in the drive way and keeps crying I pick her up and bring her into the house. I set her on the counter with her plastic bag. I get a glass of water and hand it to her she takes a drink and starts crying again.
"My throat Jace it hurts!" She says.
"Okay sweetie what else."
"My head and my tummy and my ears. "
"Okay baby let me take your temperature." I get the thermometer and and take her temp. It was 104 degrees I call Anna. I have to take her to the hospital. She throws up again and starts screaming and holding her throat I hug her. She washes her mouth out.
"Hello."
"I need help."
​​​ "What's wrong?"
"I think I have to take Emily to the hospital. I don't know, she is sick. She has a fever of 104, she is throwing up. What do I do?" I ask. I try to stay calm for Emily's sake but it's not really working.
"Okay um, take her there. I will meet you there."
"Okay." I grab her teddy bear and some plastic bags. I get her in the car and I get in. I go to the hospital. I check her in they get her in as soon as they can. Anna and Andrew come back a few minutes later.
The nurse comes in and takes her vitals. She puts Emily on an IV. The doctor comes in and lookes at her. Anna and Andrew wait in the waiting room. When they are done looking over her it is 3:00.
"Okay she has a stomach bug with a sinus infection and strep throat." He says.
"Oh wow!" I say.
"It's not contagious through the air so that's good. I will give her medicine so she stops throwing up medicine for the strep medicine for the infection and a nasal spray to clear up her nose."
"Okay."
"I sent it to the pharmacy and I will give her the first dose of everything here and you guys can go home."
"What about school?"
"No school until she is fully healed and feeling better. I will write a note for it so she can't be counted absent for her days missed. I recommend she stays in her room spray with Lysol everything she touches spray it down because you have another kid she can touch it he can put it in his mouth and boom he is sick.
So stay in bed plenty of rest and fluids give her whatever she will keep down until the medicine starts working properly and sweat the fever out give her Tylenol for that as well and it should help with fevers."
"Okay thank you."
"Yup I will be back in a minute." He leaves the room.
"You get to go home get in bed cuddle with the kitty and go to sleep. You are only allowed to leave your room if you have to go potty." I say to her.
"What if I need something?" She asks me weakly.
"I will give you a wistle if you need something then blow it and I will come to you."
"Okay." The doctor comes back in and gives her the medicine. He gives me the paper for school we head out to the waiting room. I tell Anna what's happening. She says if I need something to call her I take both kids home with me.
I get Emily's medicine and when we get home I get her a water bottle filled with gatoraid and a bottle of water. I fill her lunch box with crackers and snacks I put a TV tray in her room next to her bed and a small trash can with a bag in it next to the TV tray.
I put the tv remote on her TV tray to. I grab the cat and he lays next to her in bed I put a coloring book and crayons on the TV tray for her. I find a movie for her and she lays down I give her the whistle. I leave wash my hands really good and get Andrew something to do.
I call Dan and let him know. I call the school and say that I will get the school work for her tomorrow. I call Anna and she says she will watch them while I do what I have to do tomorrow. I check on Emily and she was sleeping.
I leave her room and make her some soup. I leave it on low while she sleeps. I pull the crackers out. Andrew comes to me.
"Jace I'm thirsty."
"Okay." I get him a bottle of water and open it I hand it to him and he leaves the kitchen. I put some soup in a bowl and put crackers into it I mix it up so it cools off.
When it is warm but not really hot I bring it to her in her room she was awake now I hand her the soup. She takes it and I leave the room. I wash my hands again and start making dinner.
I get a text from Zac saying he needs someone to watch Zane for a few hours I said I could do it. With Emily in her room and she isn't contagious Zane will be fine. 20 minutes later Zac walks in the house.
"Hello." He says.
"Hello."
"Um I have everything he needs. My mom needs me for some home repairs. She won't be home. I can't watch a baby and fix wires there is bottles in here everything he needs another bottle at 6."
"Alright will do see ya later."
"Yup will you be at work tomorrow?"
"No not until Emily is better."
"Alright well I have to leave."
"Okay bye."
"Bye." He leave and I finish dinner I take Emily's soup bowl. I give Andrew his dinner change Zane's diaper and put him on the floor he is 5 months old now so he can crawl around on the floor.
I eat some food and give Zane a teething ring he has 2 teeth already. Another is popping out to. He throws his teething ring and starts crying. I pick him up and calm him down I wash his teething ring and give it back to him.
He chews on it and I put him on the couch he sits down and puts his back against the couch I get some wooden blocks. He plays amongst himself with the wooden blocks. 6:00 comes by and I warm up a bottle I give it to him and he drinks it.
I wash it out when he is done and put it back in the diaper bag. 7:00 I make a crib of pillows on the floor and lay Zane in it with a blanket on the floor. I put Andrew to bed and check on Emily.
I give her her medicine and get her a box of tissues. 7:30 Zac gets Zane and takes him home I do the dishes. I clean the living room and the kitchen I do some laundry take a shower and go to bed.
     The next few days are rough. The medicine hasn't really started working. Emily is still throwing up but not as much. She is eating a little more but her throat is really swollen and red. She is sleeping a lot.
     Andrew is just Andrew he is playing and having fun. He played in the rain yesterday. I finished all the laundry and got it put away. It is Friday and Emily has started her school work Monday I have to get the rest for her to complete.
     She colors and plays in her room when she is up to it. I make sure I spray her blankets and bed down everyday with Lysol. I have been wrestles lately since I can't go to work. I don't know what to do I keep pacing and cleaning the house I pick up and clean every little thing in the house.
     I organized the wii games and DVDs and CDs by category, alphabetically took it out and did it again. I have shuffled cards for hours on end. I have played play dough with Andrew and colored and done Legos. I need some distraction. I call Halo when I know she is out of work.
"Hey." She says.
"Hey I need some distraction. I figured you could distract me for a long time in many ways. I just need some person around besides a 3 year old so I was wondering if you could come over maybe spend the night." I say.
"Okay I will be there soon.
"By night I mean-"
"Yeah until Monday I got it."
"Okay sounds good." I hang up and find the nerf guns I grab the bullet sashes. I put one on and get the other one ready.
I put the nerf gun with the bullet shash in my room on my bed I write Halo a note saying "hey babe I'm hiding in the house somewhere with a nerf gun and bullets here is another one the loser has to cook dinner may the odds be ever in your favor love you Jace"
     I hide behind some stacked totes in the spare room closet move them to the corner and hide in there I sit down. I play a game on my phone while I wait I hear the door open.
"Hello Jace where are you?" I keep hiding I hear her go in my room. I hear the gun get loaded. I stand up. She walks into the spare room. I stick my gun through 2 totes and aim it at her I start shooting.
She covers her face and squeals. I run out of bullets. I get out of the closet.
"Yes I'm off dinner duty!"
"Damn it." She shoots me with her bullets. We pick them up and put the stuff away. She looks in the fridge and starts pulling things out. I go over to her and grab her hips.
"You know I can't cook if you distract me."
"Well I haven't got my kiss yet." She kisses me.
"Now get out."
     "Yes my lady." I grab a bottle of juice from the fridge and leave. I sit down on the couch and a couple minutes later she sits down next to me and I put my arm around her waist. I kiss her and she grabs my shirt.
    "Hey go to your room I'm trying to eat here." Andrew says.
    "Well I know who he takes after." I say.
    "Zac!" We say at the same time. We start laughing and kiss again. I hear Emily's whistle go off. I get up and get her a new bottle l water and snacks. I go back to her room.
    "Do you think your ready for some dinner?" I ask her.
    "No."
    "Halo's making mashed potatoes do you want some of those."
     "Okay just a little bit."
    "Okay sounds good." I leave and wash my hands really good. I sit back down and Halo sits down again to. I kiss her jaw line.
    "More than one way hu." She says.
    "I'm trying." I wink at her and she taps me in the chest lightly.
    "Well I think we should talk."
    "Really." We spend some time talking about it. She is calling the doctor to get birth control and I will do what I need to. I run out real quick and when I get back she checks the boxes out. She nods her head and I put them away.
     I sit back down at the bar and Halo serves me food. She gives Andrew some food and I bring Emily her food. After dinner I do the dishes. 7:00 comes I give Emily her medicine and put Andrew to bed. Halo and I feed Flint treats for a little bit. We cuddle on the couch with the cat. He climbs on my lap.
    "Okay paws outa there please thank you." I say. Halo laughs a little. He lays down.
    "Didn't you have his claws removed?" Halo asks me.
    "His front ones."
    "Okay."
    "Yeah I didn't want him clawing Emily or Andrew."
    "That's understandable."
    "Yeah but he's a sweet kitty."
    "As sweet as you?"
    "Well I have a few more things that are sweet."
    "Really.
     "Yeah." We kiss she smiles at me I smile back.
    "I might just take you up on the offer."
     "Well I do have some very interesting things planned."
    "Do ya?"
    "No not really." I shake my head.
    "That's what I thought." We kiss again and I pull her close. She puts her hands up my shirt and starts rubbing my chest. I put my hands under her shirt on her rib cage I could feel the bottom of her bra on my thumbs I put my thumbs under the bottom.
     "They are just a little higher up buddy."
    "I see that I was trying to be nice and go slow."
    "Well that sounds really nice going slow."
    "Yeah it does."
We kiss again and she pulls my shirt off I stand up and carry her to the bed room. I lay her on the bed and she takes her shirt off.
     I get on top of her and we kiss some more I move to her neck she unbuckles my belt on my shorts. I unbutton her shorts. We keep kissing.
*Morning*
I wake up with her clothes and mine on the bed. Sun showing through the curtains in my room. I feel sticky and nasty like I haven't showerd in weeks. I look over at Halo she was sleeping the blanket up to her chest she was coverd. I see her shorts, my shorts, my shirt, and her bra.
      I look on the floor and see the rest of our clothes. The night was fuzzy like it never happened I remembered it all but it feels like a dream. I look on the night stand I look at Halo again. She opens her eyes and looks at me.
    "Hey beautiful."
     "Hi." We kiss and I put my arm around her.
    "I need a shower I feel sticky."
    "Yeah I agree."
    "Wanna come."
    "Okay I have to find some clothes
We get up and get some clothes." We go to go to the bathroom and get in the shower. We wash up and get out we clean up the room and make the bed.
     When we are done we make breakfast. Andrew gets up and I give Emily her medicine. She is feeling better today but her throat still hurts. She has stopped throwing up but her throat and ears still hurt her nose has unplugged some more.
    I give her some jello. I leave her room and go to the kitchen I wash my hands and feed the cat. Halo gives me my breakfast. We sit down to eat. I do the dishes after we eat. I check Emily's throat and it was looking better.
    The next few days go by really fast. Thursday after a long week and a half Emily is ready for school again. I go back to work and every thing returns to normal. I get home with the kids and look through Emily's back pack. She had a parent teacher conference note in her bag I have to go next Tuesday at 6. This should be good.
