Hospital Admit

The doctor comes back with a clip board and a gown.
"Well Halo it's not set in stone with what you have but I wanna keep you for testing. You could be here for two days 3 a week at most. We will move you to a quiet part of the hospital and if Jace would like to stay here with you he can." The doctor says.
"Okay."
"Jace if you would like you could bring some things such as clothes, a blanket, a sweater. What she has it's not contagious so if any family would like to visit that's fine." He tells me.
"Okay." They move her to a new room and she gets set up they put a blood pressure cuff around her arm. She has an IV in her hand and some bracelets on her wrist. She has an oxygen tracker on her finger.
"I will stay with you tonight. I'm going to run home and pack a bag." I tell her.
"Okay I should call my mom." She says and I kiss her forehead.
"Yeah, that would be a good idea." I leave the hospital and go home the kids have taken baths and were in pjs. They were playing with Zane and Zac was brushing one of Emily's dolls hair.
"Well at least the house is still standing." I say.
"Just don't go into the bathroom." I give him the really look. "Bro I'm just messing with you." I give him the middle finger.
"I deserve that. Um you have like 3 boxes on the counter."
"I know what they are for thanks."
"Yup." I go to the bedroom and grab my duffle bag. I go to Halo's dresser. I put spandex in it. I put a couple pj shorts in it and a couple shirts. Zac comes in with Zane in his arms. Zane starts whining and grabbing for me. I put him on my side and put some socks in the bag.
"So?" Zac says.
"They don't know what she has but she was admitted. I wanna stay the night with her."
"Okay I can stay with the kids."
"I was going to ask that."
"I have to run home I will take them with me."
"Wouldn't it be easier to have them stay at your place?"
"Yeah but oh well
"Okay well the guest room isn't set up."
"That's fine. I will put his play pen in the living room and I can sleep on the couch."
"If you want you can sleep in here."
He gives me a look like "ewww".
"It's clean asshole and Halo hasn't been sleeping here. Plus the doctor said what she has isn't contagious. If you wanna spray it down you can what ever."
"Okay."
"You can put his play pen where ever. Um if you wanna run now I will wait. Zane can stay here."
"Alright I will be back."
"Okay." He leaves I call the kids in while I pack.
"Okay, Halo is very sick she needs to stay at the hospital for a while. I'm staying with her tonight. Zac is staying here with you guys so be good for him. I will FaceTime Zac before bed time and you can each have time to talk to us." I tell them.
"Will Halo be okay?" Emily asks me.
"Yeah she is just sick that's all."
"Can we go see her?" She asks.
"Maybe tomorrow."
"Is her mommy going to be there?" Andrew asks.
"Yeah she called her mommy."
"Will Zane stay here to?"
"Yeah, they are having a sleep over here."
"Can we watch a movie?" Emily asks.
"I don't care but you have to ask Zac."
"Okay."
"Honey I'm home." Zac says. The kids start laughing.
"Wrong house."
"Damn it." He puts Zane's play pen on one side of the bed and puts Zane in it. He moves the bags.
"Well I'm outa here." I say. The kids give me hugs. "Be good." 
      "Okay."
      "Okay." I leave and go back to the hospital. Anna was there I set the duffle bag by a chair. I give Halo a hug and kiss her forehead.
     "Anything good happen?" I ask.
      "No my mom and I have been talking." Halo tells me.
      "About?"
      "Nothing you need to worry about."
      "Then it was about me hu?"
      "Maybe."
       "Okay well I'm a good boy so there isn't much to tell."
      "Oh there is something."
     "Did you tell her about our last disagreement?"
     "Oh my gosh mom we were arguing about something so stupid. We weren't yelling but all of a sudden he starts laughing. He was laughing so damn hard he had to hang onto the counter so he wouldn't fall over.
I looked at him like he was nuts and asked him what was so funny. He stopped laughing and said I just thought of something. I said what and he said if you choke a smurf what color does it turn. I looked at him and started laughing so hard I actually peed myself."
     "Oh my gosh Jace. Where did you come up with that?" Anna asks.
      "I have no clue it just came to mind."
      "He does that when ever I am mad at him." Halo says
"Well at least he is funny." Anna replies.
"I guess."
"Well Zac is watching the kids." I say.
"So we need a lawyer." She says.
"Yeah pretty much."
"We are so mean to him."
"Yeah I know. He deserves some credit." I say.
      "Yeah he does." The Nurse comes in and checks her vitals. It was a new nurse.
      "Okay I need to know the relation." She says as she flips a piece of paper over her clip board.
       "I'm her mother." Anna says.
       "I'm her boyfriend." I say.
       "Okay I just wanted to check. My paper says that the boyfriend was here so I wanted to make sure." She says with a smile.
      "That's fine." I say. She leaves. Halo looks at me.
      "What goodies did you bring me?" She asks me.
     "Well I brought your phone charger, socks, underwear, shorts, some shirts, hair ties, hair brush, and I forget what else." I say.
     "Okay sounds good. I will take my charger though." I get her charger and she plugs her phone in. I take my shirt off and put my hoodie on. When I take my shirt off Halo whistles.
     "Save it for later." I say. Anna puts her head into her hands. Halo laughs a little. I put my hoodie on and fold my shirt up. I put it in the bag and my phone goes off. I answer it Zac was FaceTimeing me.
I sit by Halo. Emily gets the phone first. She talks to me for a little bit. They are going to watch a movie and have popcorn. Then Andrew gets the phone. He talks to us and tells us about what happened after we left.
Zac talks to us for a little bit then they hang up. Soon we all are dozing off. I'm sleeping on the window seat. Anna dozing off on the couch. Around 2 in the morning she heads out. I grab my blanket and pillow. I lay on the couch. I soon fall asleep but wake up to the sound of Halo throwing up.
I get up and think she is done. She quickly throws up again. I go to her and hold her hair back I tie it into a ponytail. She finishes and I put the trash can down.  I get a wash cloth and she wipes her face. She swishes her mouth out and I call a nurse. She gets Halo some more anti neasuea medicine and a new trash can. I stand there falling asleep.
     "Go lay down." She says.
      "No I'm good." I reply. I actually mumble it.
      "Go." I walk over and lay down I fall asleep quickly and wake up again a half hour later. Halo was sleeping. I fall asleep and don't wake up until 7:30. I wake up and sit up. Halo was scrolling through her phone. I go by her and she looks at me.
     "Good morning." She says.
     "How do you feel?" I ask her.
     "Well a little bit better because of the fluids." She says.
      "That's good I have to pee."
      "Alright." I use the bathroom and put my pillow and blanket away.
      "I should FaceTime Zac." I say.
       "Is he up?" She asks me.
       "With the kids and Zane I would say he's been up for hours." I say with a smirk.  She starts laughing. I call Zac and he picks up.
      "What's up?" He asks me. His shirt is covered in baby food and Cheerios. His hair is a mess Zane is crying and I can hear Emily and Andrew yelling at each other.
      "Nothing I wanted to see what you guys were up to."
      "Oh my gosh they won't stop running around." He says bouncing Zane up and down trying to stop him from crying while I hear a "it's your fault" from Andrew and a "nuh uh" from Emily.
      "Did you feed them breakfast?" I ask him.
      "Yeah."
      "What did you give them?"
      "Eggs and fruit."
      "Oh then put on cartoons."
      "I did."
      "Let me talk to them." I say.
      "Okay." He says. He gives Andrew the phone.
      "Kids." I say.
      "What?" They say stopping the fighting between them.
      "Why are you so sassy this morning?" I ask them.
      "We are excited." Andrew says.
      "Why?" I ask.
      "Zac said he would take us to go see you guys." Emily says.
      "Go away." Andrew tells her. She crosses her arms.
       "That is no reason to act like brats. Stop fighting and listen to Zac or you both will be in trouble. Now go get dressed and stop running around." I say. They hand Zac the phone. I hear the patter of their feet on the hardwood floors as they run to go get dressed.
     "Thanks." He says Zane now mellow.
     "No problem."
     "Well we shall be there soon." He says.
     "Okay see ya then."
      "What room you in?" You asks me.
      "Second floor room 243."
      "Alright." I hang up and the nurse comes in. She brings a tray of food and tests the IV bag. She brought breakfast for me to. I eat real quick Halo takes her time. I put on some new clothes on and Halo brushes her hair.
She puts it in a braid on her side. I run downstairs to the cafeteria. I get some water and snacks for the kids. I go back upstaries and Halo was watching tv. A half hour later Zac comes in with the kids. They give me a hug and check Halo to make sure she is okay.
     "So I talked to Anna." He says.
     "Yeah. What did she say?" I ask him.
     "She said that while I go to work she will take the kids. When I get out of work I will take them and they can stay at my house."
     "Okay sounds good."
     "That was easier then I thought it would be." He says meaning I would have said no.
      "I'm tired and I know you don't take no for and answer so what ever."
      "Well then."
      "Yeah, I have to start planning Emily's birthday."
     "Can Ava and her mommy come?" Emily asks me.
      "I don't care."
     "YAY!"
     "Do you want to have a sleep over party and she can sleep over?" I ask her.
     "Yeah."
     "Okay I will call her."
     "My birthday isn't until 1 week yet."
     "Well they need to know early."
     "Okay."
     "I'm going to step outside." I tell Zac.
     "Okay." I go down stairs and go outside. I call Ava's mom.
     "Hello." She says.
     "Hey it is Jace."
      "Hi honey what's up?" She says to me.
      "Emily's birthday party is the 4th of July and I was wondering if you guys wanted to come out for it. I'm going to have fireworks and games. Just a bunch of stuff and Emily would like it if Ava slept over that night."
      "Oh that sounds fun actually I do not have work so we will be there what time?"
      "2:00."
      "Alright we will be there."
      "Okay have her bring her swim suit and sleeping bag."
      "Okay sounds good."
      "No problem see you ladies then."
      "Yup bye."
      "Bye." I go back in and Emily comes right up to me.
     "She said she will be here." I tell her.
     "Yes." She says doing a fist pump.
     "Okay I need to run to the store."
    "Okay, I'm going to take the heathens and head out."
     "Alright." He packs the kids up and heads out I give them some fruit snacks before they leave. I leave to. I got to Walmart and get stuff for her party. I am going to make little goodie bags for everyone. I get noise makers and all the essentials. I call Zac they were at his house.
I get her some presents and check out.  I run home and put the stuff away. I go out to get the mail. There was a package from the vet. I open it up and it was a card. It had a piece of cardboard in it it was white and it had Flint's paw prints on it.
It had his name to. The card was from the doctor. They also put a little patch in there one for each kid. It was his paw print with his name. I smile and lay the envelope down. I take a shower and go back to the hospital. Halo was sleeping again.
The doctor comes in and gives her some medicine. They bring us lunch to. We eat and play cards. Halo sits up and I sit in front of her we put the table in between us. We play Rummy and she wins 2 times I win 1 time. I tell her about the envelope.
Plus there was more stuff from Ellen. Even though we are stuck in this hospital room I still feel lucky. I don't feel cranky and crabby. Yeah I want to go home and sleep in my bed and I want Halo better but her staying here is helping. She is feeling stronger and stopped throwing up. I'm happy she is starting to feel like her self again.
