Instead of keeping me another day and making coming to and from school more difficult, my dad drove me home late Sunday night. I was grateful for this in terms of ease, but even more so because Eunji was not gonna leave me alone until she could talk to me in person about the news.
The kiss.
I got home and before I could even toss my dirty clothes in the hamper, Eunji had pounced. Even more suprisingly, Soomin was with her.
"Alright, I have to go to work in an hour, so we gotta make this quick," Soomin explained.
"And I'm just fucking dying to hear every single detail so yeah let's get to it! Laundry and dry daily activities can wait!" Eunji tacked on.
I sighed. "I mean... I already told you everything through text really..."
"Don't pull that shit on me. You're going to explode if you don't talk about it. You practically have pregnancy glow right now." Eunji sassed, cocking an eyebrow.
"Okay so maybe I am and it was amazing and I'm kind of losing my shit," I admitted, finally allowing the smile to break. They squealed in delight, and I spent the next hour rehashing every single minor detail of our day together, culminating in the climactic kiss and unsure situation that followed.
"Well, I have to go flirtily talk to old men and pretend to be legal age, but I'm extremely glad to have had this talk Whimsy. Also, just to let you know, you're probably dating now. I can't say one hundred percent, because Yoongi can be a bit of a wild card for how he deals with emotions, but I think what he said means he wants to take it seriously. If he doesn't use the word 'girlfriend' yet, I'm sure he will soon." Advised the only member of our group who was currently in a relationship.
"Thanks, Soomin. That reminds me! Tomorrow you need to fill us in on anything that's happened since the party with Taehyung. And maybe one day catch us the hell up on what you guys were to begin with?" I replied as she made for the door.
"Sure~ see you guys at school!" She added, exiting grandly as usual.
"Man," Eunji groaned, flopping on my bed. "I'm now the only single friend."
I whirled around on her. "Who the fuck's fault is that?! You and Jin just decided to ignore your drunken heartfelt confessions toward each other to maintain the status quo! That's on you guys one hundred percent! It was a perfect opportunity!"
"He was completely drunk! He didn't mean it!"
"You are so incredibly frustratingly stupid about this, Shim Eun Ji. I don't know how, but I'm going to prove it to you. If I have to get the rest of his little gang to force him to officially ask you out, or if we have to each secretly tape you guys talking about each other to us and sit you down and show you, we are going to make you two numb-nuts date." I promised.
"Whatever you say, girl who somehow got the world's most aloof guy to fall for her in like a week."
"According to his confession, Jin liked you pretty early on too. Don't try to turn this around. It's still about you two being too shy to buck up and admit to each other after all this time and infinite green lights." I chided. Eunji grumbled and trudged out of my room waving a half-hearted goodnight. What a delusional toddler.
The next day at school, Jin and Eunji were pretty awkward. When they boys entered the classroom (roughly twenty minutes late as usual) they avoided eye contact, shifting their gazes back and forth when the other turned away. When Jin sat down they looked at each other half a second and uttered shy greetings.
Yoongi on the other hand, pulled out his chair, ruffled my hair a bit, then slouched into the chair rather than his usual face-to-desk position. He stayed upright, and turned to look at me.
"Morning. I drank coffee and brought school supplies today. I'm going to try to learn something." He told me. I smiled.
"That's a good idea. It's kind of the idea school is based on." I retorted.
"Aigo, how could I choose to date a girl who's so sarcastic and mean to me..." He grumbled with a light-hearted scoff. My heart skipped a beat.
So we are dating.
"Aiiigooo, and how could I date a guy who's so lazy and dull..." I scolded in return.
"Yah, it's really insulting, but I like it when you say such things. You should call me oppa and tell people I'm your boyfriend more often."
"I don't like the word oppa," I taunted, seeing how far he'd let me go.
"And I don't like the word 'brat', but if I have to use it..." He smirked.
"You win this round, but don't get cocky."
All through our classes, Jin scribbled away at his drawing pad. I was dying to know what he was always drawing, and if he was any good. As fate would have it, I finally got to see.
When the lunch bell rang, everyone scrambled out of the room. Yoongi invited me and Eunji to sit with them, and promised to go hold down a table. Soomin followed the boys, and I was only a few steps behind Eunji when I heard an exclamation from behind me.
Jin had tripped and dropped all of his books. Eunji and the others were already well into the hallway, so I turned around to help, but when I bent down all I saw was a face. Not the horrified expression on Jin's as he rushed to collect all the doodled on pages from his notepad, but someone else's.
It was Eunji's face, sketched expertly on every single inch of paper he had ever used.
