Avi kept Alex in their car, letting him sit in the passenger seat so Avi could ask him a few questions.
Avi began with an easy one. "So... Why exactly did you buy tranquilizers for him?"
"Jamie always had late shifts, and he was the one who messed with Mitch the majority of the time. And... We didn't get fed dinner very often, so Mitchie would always be hungry when Jamie got home. But I figured he couldn't get into this mindset if he was asleep, so... When Jamie got home, I'd put Mitch to sleep."
Kirstie spoke up after the car was silent for a moment. "Wouldn't that make Jamie mad?"
Alex shrugged, looking down at his hands. "Well yeah... That's why there were two of us."
"O-Oh... I'm sorry, Allie."
Alex smiled a little, turning to look at her, knowing eye contact would give her the most reassurance. "No, it's okay. I knew what I was getting myself into when I did it. If I hadn't wanted to be the substitute, I wouldn't have gotten the pills."
Scott tightened his hold on Mitch a little, as the small Omega slept on his shoulder. "Thank you, Alex... For all of that."
"Oh, you're welcome! I'm glad I could help. I could probably get more of the pills, if you want? For emergencies like these."
Avi leaned toward him a little. "I'd like some, thank you."
Scott glared at him. "No. I don't trust you with them."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You were three seconds from taking him outside and punishing him, even though he couldn't possibly know what he was doing wrong. That's screwed up, Avi."
"I was trying to do you a favor! But fuck, never mind! I'll just let him grope you to his heart's content next time."
"That was the least harsh option. I could've dealt with him until we got some food. But you, Mr. Impatient, flew off the handle because you can't stand when Omegas don't conform to your every whim."
"That's not true. I can't believe you'd say that to me."
"Really? It seems pretty accurate to me, after what I just witnessed."
Kevin spoke up, not wanting to get in between two Alphas, but knowing it was for the best. "Guys... Alphas, please. Now isn't the time."
Scott looked out his window immediately, arm still holding Mitch against his body.
Avi grit his teeth for a second. "When are you going to learn how to take care of your Omega?"
"When are you gonna learn that being an Alpha isn't just about bossing people around?"
Avi glared at the side of his head.
When Todrick finally got to the house, after dropping Alex at his own home, the Alphas didn't speak.
Scott carried Mitch to their room, and didn't come back out.
Kevin immediately went to make dinner, hoping when Mitch woke up he'd be able to feed him.
Kirstie was right beside him, preparing to feed Grace. "Kev?"
"Yes?"
"I wish they wouldn't argue like that..."
Kevin nodded solemnly. "It's a power trip, Kit. They argue because of their power. It's in their blood, as Alphas."
"Travis and Jake don't argue like that."
