Chapter 2: Waiting to tell

Chapter 2

Peeta's P.O.V.

I'm worried about Katniss. She seems to take the break up with her mom really hard, even though she tries to assure me that she doesn't. But she is such a bad liar, that I know exactly when she is telling the truth and when she's lying. Besides, she doesn't only have nightmares anymore, I mean she does have nightmares, but sometimes she can be completely still, and just lay there and cry. And it breaks my heart.

When I told my family that I was moving out, my mom got so happy that she gave me a pat on the cheek, like she had longed for that day to come all my life. My dad on the other hand became sad. But my brothers got jealous, and said that it is humiliating for them that their baby brother moved out before them.

But still, I do need to work at the bakery, and mom really takes her chances to beat the crap out of me when I do, just the smallest mistake and she's right there with that damn rolling pin.

I hate my mother. I hate her so freaking much, she's the most awful woman on the face of the earth. I'm not even living at home and she still beats me, just for her own satisfaction, it's like it's her hobby to beat the crap out of me.

It still hurts on my ribs from yesterday. When I came home Katniss lured out from me what my mother did, and Katniss was so close to go down to the bakery and yell at my mother, but I begged her not to, and she gave up and started to take care of me instead, even though I told her that she didn't have to.

"Peeta!"

I blink and notice Katniss snapping her fingers in front if my face.

"Huh?" I ask in a dreamy voice.

Katniss smiles and takes both my hands in hers and put them to her mouth, just resting her lips against my hand backs.

"I asked if you're ready to go to school", she says low.

"Oh", I say, looking lovingly at my beautiful girlfriend as I lean my forehead against hers. "Yah, I am".

"Well, I'm not", Katniss whispers while her lips, slowly and painfully, yet teasingly moves towards my lips.

I become tired of waiting for her lips, so I choose to put mine on hers instead.

I love kissing these lips. They're so warm, soft and nice. And they're beautiful to look at, so red, even without lipstick or lipgloss.

"Hey stop making out, we have to go now", I hear Finnick shout as he ruin our moment.

"Way to ruin a moment Finn", Katniss growls.

"That's a brother's job", Finnick says proudly

I start laughing.

"And who knows, one day, Peeta and I may be brother-in-laws", Finnick teases and my eyes widen.

What the hell?

I look at Katniss and sees her cheek starting to get a really red color.

"Fuck off Finnick", I growl as I take Katniss hand and start dragging her out of the house.

We have two parking spaces, and they're occupied by Finnicks car and Katniss car. Mine and Annie's cars. Are inside the two garages.

Without even thinking twice we all walk toward Katniss car. As if it was a choice, yeah right. Finnick and I have been playing much with Katniss car, she says she really don't care, and she really don't, which really amazes me, I mean, it's so... No I can't even find words for her car.

I jump in behind the steering wheel and Finnick in the passenger seat. Annie and Katniss jumps in the back seat.

We arranged this yesterday, Katniss and I don't want anyone to think that we're together, even though we are, but just not yet, we figured we could just start the term first and after a week or so, we start acting like a couple in school.

I start the car and start to drive towards school.

I don't think Annie and Finnick are planing the same thing though, at least not Finnick. I can swear that he'll take Annie when he's in the most public place in school and give Annie a real rough tongue kiss, just to prove to everyone that he's not gay.

Most of the people I school thinks that Finnick is gay, I know they do, even the girls, and they're very sad about that. I remember one day, before moved... This girl came up to me and Finnick when we were standing by our lockers. She cried. And than she said:

"Finnick why do you need to be gay? It's nothing wrong, it's just, you're so hot and you make all the girls devastated!"

She than ran off crying her eyes out. Finnick was just standing there without being able to say a single word. He was frozen and I almost died laughing.

The other guys in our group also doubted Finnick's sexuality, I never did though, I knew and I know how much he like girls, he likes them way to much, and I think he proves that pretty good with Annie ... If you know what I mean.

It's not very long from the beach to school. Ten minutes, so we're there in no time, although if you would walk, it would take half an hour to get to school, and since the girls has high heels, walking is no option, they say. Although I've seen them run in high heels, so I don't really know how that fits... Oh well, I guess guys don't really know what's going on in girls minds, and I sure don't know what's going on in Katniss mind, I just hope I'm a big part of it, because she is in my mind.

I pull up on the parking lot of our High School. Panem High. So original, right? Haha yah, the Middle School is Panem Middle and the lower is called Panem Elementary. Yeah, I guess that has no fantasy when they built the schools here in the city of Panem.

I search after a spot between the cars and I see one. The old one I used to park in before it moved, I had just turned sixteen. Why hasn't someone taken that spot yet? It's a great spot, maybe even the best.

"Are you kidding me?" Finnick exclaims when I ask him. "The girls would kill the one who park their car on that spot, it's like it's holy ground for them or something. In the beginning when you first moved, they took turns to guard the spot, in case you came back, now that day has come, so Katniss I would keep Peeta away from the girls if I where you".

Did he really have to say that last part? Oh god. The girls here are crazy. No I mean it, they're real crazy.

I pull up at the spot and turn off the car.

"Everybody ready for our Senior Year?" I ask.

"Hell yeah!" Finnick says and hit my arm playfully.

Katniss takes my head between her hands and crash her lips onto mine.

It's a really intimate kiss and I really wish we weren't here in the car right know.

Katniss pulls away.

"What was that for?" I ask, and swallow hard.

"A remainder of the fact that your mine and no one else's", she says.

"I would never forget that", I say.

"I was reminding myself", she says, "Sometimes it feels like it's a dream or something. Anyway, let's start our last year of High School now!"

And with that we open the car doors and walk out for our Senior Year to start.
