Chapter 35: What the others did...

Chapter 35

Peeta's P.O.V.

As the train slides into Panem I pray a silent prayer that Katniss and I don't need to end World War Three.

I asked them not to kill Gale, but I don't believe that they have listened to me.

Haymitch and Maysilee is going to step off with us. They live here after all. Ruby is going back to Atlanta.

Katniss is sad about that. She don't want her grandma to go, and she want to see her grandfather.

But we're going to Atlanta soon. It's graduation soon and we're going there for the summer, Katniss have started to talk about moving there to go to collage there, but I don't think she will, she could never leave Prim here. I know Katniss too good, she won't move to Atlanta.

Although, we might not go to Atlanta this summer, or... We won't to be exact. Ruby told me that their family have an big old family house in Panem. And when I say old, I really mean it. It's really old. It's been in their family's house since early 1600s. It's been empty ever since Ruby and her husband moved to Atlanta, but they are both thinking about moving back to the family house. They want to be near their grandchildren and sons. I don't think that they think they can bond with their daughter even though they hope they can.

Katniss don't know anything about this move. And Ruby don't want me to tell her, she wants it to be a surprise. And I think it will. Katniss will be so very happy.

"Bye grandma", Katniss says and a few tears leaves her eyes, revealing her sadness.

"Oh sweetheart don't cry please, well see each other soon", Ruby says.

"Not until summer", Katniss mutter.

"They'll come to our graduation Kat", I remind her.

"Oh yeah, but that's still a long time", she says.

It's not that long to be honest. Just a few days. But I understand Katniss. She haven't met her grandparents before she was seventeen the first time. Now when she have then in her life, she want to meet them more often.

"Not very long, it will go faster then you think", Ruby says.

Katniss nods and force a smile on her lips.

Ruby hugs me.

"Goodbye Peeta, I'll see you soon as well", she says.

"Of course, just don't leave your husband at home this time", I joke.

Ruby laughs and his me again.

"I won't", she says.

She hugs Katniss again.

"I love you sweetie", she says. "I'll see you soon".

Katniss nods.

"I love you too grandma, tell grandpa I love him as well", she says.

Ruby nods.

"I will".

We step off the train and join Haymitch and Maysilee.

Katniss is not angry at them anymore. She swallowed her anger and told herself that they in fact just did what they did to protect her.

Katniss takes Maysilees's hand.they're going to come with us to our house. They wanted to see it. Then they're going to their house and we will meet Haymitch tomorrow at school. Tomorrow he will be our teacher again. But only for a few months. Then we will graduate and go to collage and we will be grown ups and all.

We walk out of the train station and walk towards mine and Katniss car. It's the car Plutarch bought for her. It's ours now. She told me so. She said that she'll never drive a car and that I could get it. But I didn't want that. I didn't want to take her car. Then she said that it could be ours and I a green after she had nagged for a few hours.

"Ooo that's one nice car!" Maysilee says.

"Yeah my stepfather bought it", Katniss says uninterested.

"He did?" Maysilee asks.

"Yep", Katniss says.

We all sit down in the car and I drive off.

I drive to our beach house.

"Wow", Maysilee and Haymitch says.

The door opens and Annie runs out.

"Katniss!" Annie shouts horrified.

I get a bad feeling. What happened now?

"Annie what's wrong?" Katniss asks.

"They've locked in Gale in the basement, he have been there for two days without food and water and god what if he dies?" Annie says.

What the hell?

"They can't so that, he'll die", Haymitch says. "A human can't live long without water, we can live without food for days but not without water".

Oh god. They're killing him.

I run into the house.

"Guys!" I yell.

They all come forward.

"Happy to see you're back man", Cato says.

"Save it Cato, how can you just lock in Gale into the basement? He can die of dehydration!" I yell and run towards the basement. "And it's not much air in that basement!"

"He deserves it!" Marvel says.

"No he doesn't, he didn't sleep with those girls while Skeeter and he were together and did it after because he was so heartbroken and he didn't know what to do with himself", I say angrily.

I open the door to the basement and run down the stairs.

I see Gale lying on the floor. He's barely conscious.

"Call an ambulance!" I yell.

I hear running steps in the stairs and everyone appear.

"Oh god... We didn't mean for this to happen!" Marvel yells.

"I told you not to do this!" Finnick yell. "Peeta I tried to stop them.

"GALE!" Skeeter yells. "No Gale!"

She throws herself onto the floor and start to shake gales body but now is not conscious at all.

"Gale don't die!" I bed.

"GAAALE!" Skeeter screams. "GALE DON'T DIE, PLEASE!"

This is the first time ever, I've seen Skeeter cry. He have never cried before. I guess she really must love Gale. But why did she break up with him them? I don't get this.

Katniss tries to calm Skeeter down but she throws with her arms.

I hear a faint sound of sirens from the ambulance.

I just hope it's not to late to save Gale.
