Chapter 24: Winners

Chapter 24


Katniss P.O.V.


When the last pair to preform is done, grandma walks up on the stage yet again.

She stands there and says something that I'm not listening to.

But then I do. Because she starts talking about the winners.

"And we have the result from your voting, so if I can ask to get the letter with the winning pair..." Grandma looks backstage.

Prim walks up from nowhere causing my jaw to drop.

She smiles and hands grandma the letter and then hugs her.

The audience goes "aaww..."

"My other granddaughter", grandma explains as Prim runs off the stage.

Grandma looks at the letter and keeps a straight face the whole time.

"Alright I have them here... The winning couple ... Are ..." Grandma says teasingly slowly. "... ... Katniss and Peeta! Come on up you guys!"

Wait what? What did she say?

"Wait what did she say?" I ask.

"We won, come on Katniss", Peeta says happily.

Peeta grabs my hand hand drags me up on the stage to a standing, shouting and wild clapping audience.

When we come up to my grandma she pulls me into a tight hug and I hug her back.

"Peeta!" I hear the voice of my little sister shout.

I pull away from grandma and turn around to see Prim run across the stage and into Peetas arms.

The other contestants also joins is up here and congratulates us.

In all this weirdness I lost Peeta. He's somewhere in this dough if people, but where?

Then I see his head.

He turn around, it looks like he's looking for something.

Then he's eyes stops at me. So he were looking for me?

We walk towards each other and when I'm reaching him I jump up into his arms and crash my lips onto his as my legs locks around his waist.

"I love you", I say when I pull away my lips from Peetas.

"My love for you is indescribable Katniss", Peeta says.

"I want someone to love me that much to", Prim says in awe.

I jump down from Peeta.

"I do little duck", I say.

"Not like that", Prim says and rolls her eyes. "Don't you see the way Peeta looks at you? The way he moves around you? The way he talks to you? With so much respect and awe. Anyone can se how much he loves you Kat. And the same goes for you. I want to have that too some day".

"And you will", Peeta tells her.

Someone jumps up onto my back.

"I told you!" Glimmer shouts happily in my ear making me deaf. She doesn't weight much though.

I spin around with Glimmer on my back.

"I should be angry, but I'm not", I laugh.

"Good 'cause I hate when you're angry", Glimmer laughs.

I giggle and then stop.

Glimmer jumps off my back and I spin around to look at her.

"You know, I know I can get angry sometimes, but I really got hurt earlier when you where afraid of me", I say.

"Oh Kat, I wasn't afraid of you", Glimmer lies.

I raise my eyebrow.

"Okay maybe a little", Glimmer finally admits. "But I love you so much Kat, your the only one in our entire family besides Marvel I have a real connection to, you're my cousin but you're my bestest friend as well".

I actually get tears in my eyes. But I don't cry.

"Oh Glim", I say and pull her into a hug. "I love you too, so, so, so much, just don't ever be afraid to tell me when you do something ... Glimmerish".

Glimmer giggles when she hears what I just said.

"Hey I'm your cousin too", Prim says.

"I know that Primmy", Glimmer says and takes Prims hand as they walk away.

I'm really happy right know. But tomorrow I won't, because we're going home. I don't want to leave grandma and grandpa.

I walk up to grandma and just hugs her.

"Oh", grandma says surprised, but then she notice that something's wrong. "What's wrong sweetheart?"

"I just don't wanna leave yet", I say in a small voice.

"Aww well see each other again soon", grandma promises.

"Promise?" I ask.

"Promise!"
