Chapter 39: What just happened?

Chapter 39

Katniss P.O.V.

"Yeah okay, good, she's going to be sooo happy", I hear Peeta say I'm the phone.

He's in the kitchen and I'm taming behind the wall, listening. I don't usually eavesdrop, but when he's phone called, he hurried out to the kitchen and has never ever done that before.

"Okay, yeah of course", Peeta says and I can hear the smile on his face. "Absolutely, bye, we'll see you in a few days".

See who soon?

Ugh. It can't be Gale, because one, he's already home resting, he's still sensitive about loud noises, but he's getting better and better, and Skeeter is there taking care of him everyday, and two, Peeta would never talk with that sugar sweet voice while talking to Gale.

So who is he going to meet?

I stand in the doorway and he turns around.

I stand with my arms crossed over my chest.

"And who was that?" I ask irritated with Peeta.

"Where you eavesdropping?" He asks and I can see that he feels irritated because of the fact that he believe I don't trust him.

I trust him, it's not that, it's just he's behavior to all of this is new.

"What does that have to do with anything?" I ask angrily. "That wasn't my question.

"No but it was my question Katniss!" Peeta says.

I feel the anger raise inside of me.

"Tell me who that was!" I demand.

"No if you trusted me you wouldn't even ask that question!" Peeta says.

"That's not true", I say. "I do trust you Peeta, but you behave so damn odd!"

"Well it sure don't feels like you trust me, you eavesdrop on me, you demand to know who I'm talking to in my phone, that's not trust now is it?" He says angrily.

Now I'm furious. Maybe because he's right, I don't know. I do trust him, I'm just scared someone will take him away from me.

"Exactly, tell me when you figured out if you can trust me or not", Peeta says and walks out if the kitchen.

I stand here. Dumb folded. Why the hell did I even start this fight? Peeta isy everything and I start up a fight with him for no damn reason?

"Finnick!" I hear him yell.

I look out to the hall and see Peeta stand by the stairs with a pair of sunglasses before his eyes and his leatherjacket that makes him look so damn hot.

"What?!" Finnick yells back.

"School!" He says. "The girls are driving there on their own!"

Okay now this don't make me less angry.

"We are?" Annie shouts with confusion in her voice.

I walk to the stairs and push Peeta out of my way.

"Yes we are", I yell. "Now move it!"

Peeta and I send each other death glares. Not that I can see his eyes behind his sunglasses.

"You know, maybe we're not meant to be", I say hard, wanting him to hurt.

"Maybe not, good to find out that then", Peeta says.

It's like a sing in my heart.

What the hell is even happening right now? I don't understand this at all.

Finnick and Annie comes down the stairs and sees how Peeta and I aren't looking at each other anymore.

Peeta takes ahold of Finnick's arm and drags him out of the house. He slams the door after him and I jerk.

What just happened?

"What just happened?" Annie asks confused.

I start to explain everything to Annie and she gets annoyed with me.

"Katniss, surely you don't think he would be unfaithful to you", she says.

"No!" I say.

"Then why start up the fight?" She asks.

"Oh I don't know", I say starting to feel very dumb.

I'm so damn stupid. Why did I do that?

"Oh my god Annie, why did I do that?" I whine.

"I don't know but you can fix it", she says.

I remember what I said to Peeta.

"I don't know f I can", I say. "I said a stupid thing to him right before you got down".

"What did you say?" Annie asks as we walk towards the door.

"That we weren't meant to be", I mumble.

"WHAT?!" Annie screams. "You so are, Katniss people fight, I've heard that arguments keep the relationship healthy, don't say that you're not meant to be, over never seen anyone as much in love as you and Peeta, when ever he sees you or you come into the room he shines up like the happiest man alive and you do to when you see him. So trust me, you can fix this".

We sit into the car and my body tense. Neither Finnick or Peeta is driving which makes me feel uncomfortable.

We get to school in one piece and we enter the school. We see Peeta and Finnick with the boys.

The girls meet up with Annie and me on the way to the boys.

"What happened sweetie?" Glimmer asks.

The sorrow have to be clearly visible in my face.

"We'll explain later", Annie says.

We come up to them.

"Peeta..." I say.

He turn around. He take he's glasses off his face and put them on top if his head in is messy hair.

"I know what you're gonna say and you're right, maybe ... Maybe we just shouldn't be together for now", he says and then leaves with the boys who don't say one word but follows Peeta.

The girls are shocked. Even Annie.

I. I just stand there. I feel the tears finally start to flow.

I feel my legs start to betray me and I fall to the floor but the girls catches me.

What just happened?
