Chapter 30: A surprise

Chapter 30

Katniss P.O.V.

I made the others promise me that they wouldn't kill Gale while Peeta and I are off on our tour. Not because I feel sorry for Gale, but because I know what really happened with Skeeter and that she still loves him so much. Gale, I couldn't care less out, he's dead before my eyes as it is for now.

I know Peeta still has Gale under his wing, but Peeta is the only one covering for him when needed, because Peeta is born as a kind and warm hearted person, he couldn't be mean even if he tried to.

I admire Peeta for that, but I'm a bit annoyed with him right now, because he's still talking to Gale and covers for him. Gale does not deserve Peeta's friendship, but Peeta doesn't see that, because he's too kind of a person. He's too kind for his own good.

Peeta and I are at the train station right now, waiting for the train to arrive.

Peeta try to hold my hand, but I jerk away my hand as he tries to grab it.

"What's wrong?" He asks, looking at me.

I look at him.

"I don't understand how you can keep Gale under your wing still", I hiss at him.

He looks at me. Just this look can easily make me melt, but right now I'm too angry to melt, so I don't.

"Katniss he feels terrible, he's lost, Gale has never been in love before, he really loves Skeeter, he totally broke when she broke up with him", Peeta says. "Not only that night when he came to our house, no I've been sitting in the café for hours and hours hearing him cry, I've been sitting by his bed because I know he wakes up and throws up, he also screams Skeeters name begging her to come back to him, he's a total wreck".

Gale has been sleeping in the guest room ever since Skeeter broke up with him. Peeta and Finnick insisted because they want to look after him, after he said he were going to harm himself.

When Peeta tells me this I'm starting to get a little sympathetic towards Gale. But only an inch, because what he did, to sleep with every girl he came across were really to step over the line.

"Oh well he's a man whore", I say and take Peeta's hand. He doesn't deserve my anger. I kiss his cheek. "But you're sweet who cares".

He smiles innocently and looks at me with those eyes again, and this time I do melt. His eyes are just too beautiful.

I hear the train. I look to see it come sliding to the station.

It stops in front of us.

The door before us opens and I see none other then my grandma.

"Grandma!" I say surprised as I hug her.

"Hey sweetheart", she says and strokes my hair.

When I let go I just smile staring at her.

Peeta clears his throat. Oops.

"Hey Peeta", grandma says and hugs Peeta.

"Hello Ruby, it's very nice to meet you again", Peeta says.

"I can only say the same to the both of you", grandma says.

I'm no longer ashamed about my middle name, which is Ruby. Now I know why and I'm proud to be named after my grandma who is awesome.

"You're coming with us?" I ask.

"Of course, I'm in charge of the whole thing, sweetie", she says and I hit my hand on my forehead. How stupid of me to not think about that!
