Chapter 7: New girl

Chapter 7

Katniss P.O.V.

I can't believe I'm gonna be the lead in the biggest play on this school. How much pressure isn't that? A LOT!

"You'll be fine", Peeta assures me, trying to calm me down.

"Easy for you to say, you're good at this", I mutter.

"So are you, otherwise Effie wouldn't have picked you as the lead along with me", Peeta points out.

How much I'd like to deny that, I can't. Effie is a perfectionist and wants every little thing, even the tiniest of things to be perfect.

I sigh.

But I still don't like that I'm going to preform on stage. I mean yeah it's kind of a long way there, but still...

"You're amazing Katniss, don't forget that", Peeta says as he takes my hand and starts to lead me towards class.

"Peeta..." I whine.

"What?"

"My legs hurt from when Clove crashed into me", I say.

Peeta smiles slyly and picks me up bridal style as I laugh loudly.

I get sight of a girl with brown hair and blonde highlights, open the door to the principals office. Before she walks in she glances at me in Peetas arms, and she must think we're really goofy ... And we are. Than she disappears inside the door and it shuts softly behind her.

Peeta didn't notice her and now he's starting to walk towards class.

Peeta knows very well that it's nothing wrong with my legs, and he's carrying me anyway, and I like it, and I think he does as well.

He starts to run slightly and I start to laugh even more.

"No Peeta, you're gonna fall! Slow down!" I order between laughs.

But Peeta doesn't listen to me. In fact he does the complete opposite to what I said. He starts to run faster.

"Peeeeetaaaa", I shout terrified as I continue laughing.

And than he stops. Just like that, and it feels like I'm going to fly out of Peetas arms, but I remain where I am, Peetas arms holds me protectively so I won't fall out of them.

Than I notice that we are outside the classroom and the others are there.

"Uh... Yeah, there are normal people, and than there's Katniss and Peeta!" Gale says as if to justify a point to what he said only seconds before we arrived.

The others starts laughing.

I raise my eyebrows.

"Just because you don't have a girlfriend!" Peeta says teasingly.

"And how do you know I want one?" Gale asks.

"Good point", Peeta laughs.

Everyone else join in the laughter as well.

"Kitty we heard the big news", Finnick says. 'Kitty' is Finnick's pet name for me.

The thing with Finnick is that he almost always sounds seductive. He did it to me as well in the beginning, but than he stopped when our bond got tighter and stronger and he now sounds like a loving brother. Which he is.

"Shut up Finnick!" I hiss, because I know what he's referring to.

"Katniss, Annie and I are going to play your best friends and Glimmer is going to be Peetas sister", Clove says.
