Chapter 45: The end

Chapter 45

Katniss P.O.V.

"Jennifer you need to leave", Peeta says, hs voice echoes in the auditorium.

Everyone is listening really tense.

We're doing the play now. It's also the day of our graduation, but it's in a few hours.

"Why? I've been calling you, looking for you", I say, looking him into the eyes. "You've been ignoring me Josh, why? Why are you doing that?"

"Why do you always need an answer Jen? Have the thought of me, not wanting to meet you, ever crossed your mind?!" Peeta says louder. "I don't want you here, I don't want to see you".

"But why? You haven't told me why, what have I done?" I ask, feeling the tears start to flow, just as they should.

"She has the righ to know", Glimmer's voice says loud and clear.

"Go away Willow, this does not concern you", Peeta says.

"As your sister, it does", she says sounding angry. "You can not do this to her, she hasn't done anything wrong".

"I know!" He says.

"What?" Both Glimmer and I say.

"I KNOW", Peeta screams. "I know, but she has to go, she can't be here and I can't explain!"

Peeta storms off the stage, backstage.

Glimmer and I are left on the stage, looking at each other as the lamp goes black, and we both sneak off the stage and everyone change the the props. I just have time for one kiss before Peeta rushes onto the stage again and the lamp turns back on.

The play goes on for about two hours. And because Effie is the one who wrote the play and she can't deal with tragedies, the play ends happy,a nd because she wants everyone to know that we are her students, and she knows us, the play ends with us singing.

"Jen I'm so glad we've put the past behind us, and I'm glad you've forgiven me", Peeta says wrapping his arms around me. "But do you think Amandla will ever forgive me?"

And this is where Annie storms onto the stage for the last time.

"Well that depends!" She says irritaded. "Do yo have intentions of ever hurting my best friend again?"

"I didn't have any from the beginning, I told you, it was all my family besides Willow!"

"I know, but as a best friend is my job to protect Jennifer!" Annie says. "You'll get only chance from me, you understand? And if you hurt her, I'll cut you like a bug!"

I have to keep myself from laughing. We rehearsed this so many times, and each time every one just started laughing becasue it sound so funny and everyone knows that Annie would never say such a thing, ever.

"Yes ma'm", Peeta says.

The audience just starts laughing so much and I would really much like to join them, but I can't. I have to keep my poker face up, I'm still on stage.

Annie nod.

"She's usually very lovley", I promise Peeta.

"Yeah", Peeta says.

"Well I'm gonna leave you two alone", Annie says and runs off the stage.

I giggle and Peeta looks at me with so much love.

"I love you so much", Peeta says.

I stop giggle, and just look at him.

"I love you two", I say.
