Chapter Twenty Three: Don't make me bring up the unbreakable vowel

It was cold when we left for the interview and photoshoot the next morning.

I sat in the passengers seat of Jayden's car with my hands wrapped tightly around a mug of coffee. Jayden was humming along to the song by Drake on the radio and tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. His body guards, Sam and Gracie were both seated in the back. Sam stared straight ahead with a stony expression and Gracie looked like she hadn't smiled in years. I raised my eyebrows and looked the other way.

"So what magazine is this again?" I asked as we stopped at the traffic lights. Jayden turned the radio down.

"What?"

"I asked what magazine you're doing this shoot thing for."

"It's called Breakfast at Noon." Jayden replied as the car moved off again. "Every year I do a front cover for them and an interview. In all honestly, it's getting a bit tedious."

"So why do you keep doing it?" I asked. "What's the point of doing something you don't enjoy."

"I have to do things I don't enjoy." Jayden replied. "How else am I going to get sponsors. "

"Breakfast at Noon is your sponsor?"

"One of them."

"Huh."'I said. "How many sponsors do you have exactly." Jayden waved me away.

"It's not important." He said, flicking on his indicator.

"Why not?" I asked, putting my feet up on the dash board. "I wanna know."

"Well I'm not going to tell you." Jayden replied as the car came to a stop beside a tall stone building with the American flag waving in the light wind out the front.

"Maybe the magazine ladies will tell me." I said, ignoring him glaring at my feet. "You know. Woman to woman.

"They won't tell you." Jayden said with a grin. "They adore me. Now get out. We're here."

"Cocky much?" I said, going to open my door, only to find it locked.

"Please wait Miss Rose." Said Sam.

"I'm not cocky." Jayden replied as we waited for Sam and Gracie to get their security procedures over and get us out of the car. "I'm simply stating the truth."

"The truth as you see it." I said. Jayden grinned.

"Well I'm not lying am I? I'm just telling the story as I remember it. That's not lying." I shook my head at him as the doors unlocked and Gracie finally opened my door for me.

"Whatever you say Jay. Whatever you say."

"Thank you." Said Jayden. "I win."
