Chapter Four: I am not Cinderella and this is not a fairytale

The first day of collage was hectic to say the least.

Zoe bounded into my room at seven in the morning, despite the fact that both our first classes didn't start until after ten. She burst in singing let it go and smelling of pancakes as she yanked open my curtains, letting the sun light wash over the bed, blinding me like something sent straight up from hell by Satin himself.

"Rise and shine my dear." Zoe sang, twirling round at the foot of my bed like the super plum fairy on steroids. I groaned, stuffing my head under the pillow.

"Go away." I grumbled.

"Come on sleeping beauty." Said Zoe, reaching over and pulling my blankets off me. "You need to get there a little early. It's your first day remember. You don't want to be late."

"Yes Mother." I grunted, rolling over. "Five more minutes."

"Spencer Melody Rose. If you don't get up right now I won't hesitate to call every single person in your contacts and tell them that you spent the day with Jayden Grace." I sat bolt upright, hastily blinking away the sleep, suddenly not tired anymore.

"I'm up." I said, swinging my legs out of bed. Zoe smirked.

"I thought so. Oh and by the way, make sure you have a shower before you go. Your hair looks like a bird died in there." I flipped her the finger and she giggled, prancing her way out of the door before I could find something to throw at her.

Half an hour later I had showered and dressed, skidding down the stairs towards the kitchen. In Sterio was playing from Zoe's blue tooth speakers while she danced around the kitchen, twirling an egg flip round and round in her fingers. As I slid onto a stool at the bench, Zoe slid a plate of pancakes across the table towards me. I sent her a smile as I pulled the plate towards me and drowned the stack of fluffy goodness in syrip. Zoe collage books were spread out all over the kitchen bench and she read while she eat, a red marker pen tucked behind her ear.

Zoe had started Collage a few weeks before me and had been staying with her aunt and uncle until I was able to fly over so she was three weeks into her studies. I will admit I was really glad I had her because I would have gotten lost as soon as I climbed out of the car. She already told me about the two friends who were in her music class, Jorden and Taylor and I'd noticed how her eyes had litten up and her cheeks had turned a sweet shade of pink when she mentioned Jorden. I could tell that a tiny crush was blooming.

By the time we got to collage, my hands were shaking. I'd been going to the same school, in the same buildings with the same teachers and the same students and principle since I started primary school. I wasn't used to going into a place I didn't know. Zoe's red mini zipped through the car park and she managed to find a spot right by the doors.

"How did you even do that?" I asked. "Classes start in like fifteen minutes and you managed to score one of the best seats in the house!" Zoe shrugged and reapplied her lipstick in the mirror.
