Chapter Fourty Six: You are not James Bond!

It was a Friday the day I went back to school. Climbing out of the car and heading towards the college building was a strange feeling, trying to blend in like my life was completely normal was even stranger. People glaced at me left, right and centre, though no one actually said anything to me. It was almost as if everyone knew who I was, but everyone had the deceny to not ask me any questions. That didn't stop the whisperes though.

By the time I got to the art room, my ears were burning from all the things people were saying about me. Mrs James was setting up a slide show at the front of the room and she smiled at me as i came in. I grabbed my portfolio from the box where they were keeped and headed down the isle to my usual chair. As the rest of the students filed in and Mrs James started talking, I realised how much I'd missed my art in the past few weeks. When Mrs James explained that we would be drawing things that make us happy, to show that people are more happy with drawings of things that they love, rather than things that they have no interest in, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. When we were givin the good to go, I fished my phone out of my pocket, searching for a photo that had been taken over the weekend. The smile made my cheeks hurt when I found it.

It was a photo of Zoe, Taylor and I taken at the airport on the day Zoe followed Jordan to Australia. We had our arms wrapped around each other, huge smiles splitting our faces practically in two. Zoe was in the middle, her arms thrown around our shoulders, turning her face towards me as she laughed, Taylor on the right of her, me on the left. Jayden and Tyler had taken the photo, Jayden holding the phone steady whilst Tyler had pulled the kind of faces one might pull for children to try to get them to smile.

I spent the rest of the lesson sketching out the photo in pencil, transfering it to a canvas to start with oil the following lesson. Jayden was at an event in California and would be arriving home just before i got home from college. I worked steadily, aiming to get most of the pencil work done before the end of the class so that I could spend the evening half asleep on the sofa with a DVD rather than sitting up with my back aching, trying to get the drawing done.

After the class, Taylor and I headed down to the juice bar at the end of the street. Well. Taylor went to the juice bar, I waited out the front and then proceeded to her to the starbucks across the road. But that turned out not to be a good idea because it was about 3 in the afternoon, and the café was full of teenagers fresh out of school. I had to buck out again and get Taylor to order for me. The few that did see me screamed and jumped to their feet, but I was long gone before they were able to get to the door.

It had started raining by the time I got back to the apartment. It was normally nice to come home, because Zoe had most of her classes in the morning, so the lights would be on and there'd be music playing. But the only noise was the sound of Toby barking and his padding feet as he raced down the stairs, almost taking me out during his mission to escape out the door. I fell over anyway, trying to kick the door closed and grab him at the same time. Then I put on some comfy clothes and threw my hair up in a bun. Sticking on Colbie Callitie, I held out my arms to Toby who was trying to pretend I didn't exsist.

"Well fine sir." I said, scooping him up in my arms and covering his fluffy little face in kisses. "Shall we dance?"

It was quarted to 10 when I heard the front door open. Toby didn't even lift his head from my knees, simply moving around enough to bury his nose deeper under his paws. Through half open eyes I saw Jayden appear at the door to the living room, shrugging off a wet raincoat as he did so. I sent him a sleepy smile as he came over to me.
