"She believed she could so she did"

"Zoe!" I yelled from the kitchen. "Where did you put the popcorn?"
There was an annoyed groan from the living room, followed by Taylor's laughter.
"In the cupboard!" Came Zoe's muffled reply. I put my hands on my hips and tipped my head up towards the ceiling in exsasparation.
"There's none here!"
"Yes there is!"
"No there isn't!"
"Spencer!" Zoe shrieked.
"What?" I shrieked back. "How do you expect me to make popcorn if you didn't buy any?" There was the sound of the tv pausing and then Zoe came stomping into the kitchen. She pushed me out of the way, almost sending me sprawling.
"Wow." I said with a grin. "Easy there mama bear." Zoe ignored me, frantically searching through the cupboard, throwing things all over the kitchen. I dodged a packet of pasta sauce that went flying over my head and raised my eyebrows at Taylor who'd just appeared in the kitchen doorway. Zoe slumped against the kitchen counter, looking defeated.
"Zoe?" I said softly.
"I just wanted popcorn!" Zoe wailed and she buried her face in her hands. My eyebrows shot up and I stepped towards her.. I wrapped my arms around her, bringing her sobbing form closer to me. I patted her head gently, raising my eyebrows at Taylor who had her hand resting on Zoe's back.
"Zoe is this about Jordan?" Taylor asked softly.
Zoe only cried harder.
"What about Jordan?" I whispered to Taylor. Taylor shook her head softly.
"I'll tell you later." She whispered back. Then she continued to rub Zoe's back. "Come on Zo." She said. "Let's make some hot chocolate and get you up to bed yeah?" Zoe didn't lift her hea dup from my chest, but she nodded. "Okay." Taylor said softly. "Spencer will take you upstairs and I'll make the hot chocolates."
"Come on Zoe." I said, gently turning her around. "Up stairs we go." As I guided her towards the stairs, I glanced over my shoulder at Taylor. She'd whipped her phone out of her pocket and was already hissing into it, gesturing wildly with her hands. I turned my head away and murmured soothing words to Zoe, who was dragging her feet slowly towards the stairs. Whatever Jordan had said to put Zoe in this kind of state, I was going to kill him.

Half an hour and we were all curled up on Zoe's bed, with a cup of hot chocolate each and love, actually playing on the TV. Zoe had her head resting on my shoulder, her eyes closed. Taylor waved her hand in front of Zoe's face.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Making sure she was asleep." Taylor replied. She sat up a little and turned to face me.
"Jordan has been offered a chance to go on exchange to Australia for a year through his college course." Taylor said softly. I furrowed my eyebrows.
