"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the end."

Chapter Forty Seven: I'm a fairy tale prince on a white horse name Steve
It was only a few days later when Maxine showed up in the middle of the day to pick me up for the winter ball. Jayden and I had spent the night before at my studio, mucking around with a white canvas and water balloons full of paint. Maxine wasn't very pleased when she saw how multicolored my hair was when I opened the door.
"What on earth have you been doing?" Maxine asked, eyeing my hair with raised eyebrows. I glanced up towards my hair line, as if I was expecting to see what she was looking at.
"Paint ballons." I said. When she looked even more confused, I smiled at her, waving my hands at her, which were covered in pink and green paint. "College assignment." Maxine nodded slowly.
"You know why I'm here right?" She asked. I motioned for her to move past me into the room. Jayden was currently chasing Toby around and around the coffee table, who had one of the paint brushes in his mouth. Tody dove under the sofa and curled up at the back with only his nose sticking out. Jayden let out a defeated sigh, flopping down on the sofa and staring up at the roof.
"You've just lost a paintbrush Nala Bear." He said. I stepped over his legs, heading for the bathroom.
"No I haven't." I said. "He'll give it back when the game becomes boring." Jayden stood up and followed me into the bathroom.
"I've got to go." He said in my ear. "You have fun tonight ok?" I smiled at him in the mirror.
"It's a party Jay. It's impossible not to have fun." He turned me around to steal a kiss, ignoring my noise of suprise when he whirled me around.
"Have fun ok?" I picked up on the seriousness in his tone and I grinned, splashing soapy water across his cheek.
"I will." I said. "I promise."
"That's my girl." He picked up his coat from the sofa, bending down to give Maxine a hug goodbye as he past.
"Don't worry Jayden." Maxine said with a grin. "I'll make sure she has fun." I rolled my eyes.
"I am perfectly capable of having fun at a party!" I said. Both Jayden and Maxine stared at me.
"You hate parties." They said together. I scowled at them.
"Screw you both." I said. I heard Jayden laughing and then the sound of the studio door slamming shut. I glanced down at the bench looking for my hair brush and saw his script lying by my elbow. I did the perfect imitation of a gazelle, flying across the studio to yank open the window above the sofa.
"Jayden!" I yelled. I caught him just as he was climbing into the car. He glanced up, using his hand to shield his eyes. I threw his script down to him and it handed on the pavement by his feet.
"Have fun fighting zombies!" I yelled. He saluted me with two fingers before climbing into the car. I pulled the window closed with a bang and turned to face Maxine who was looking like she'd just walked into a mad house. "Right." I said. "Shall we?
