Maya POV

I awoke to the sound of alarm clock at 6:30AM alerting me that it was time to wake up. Today was Liliana's first day of Kindergarten. I couldn't believe that she is already 5 years old. I was dreading this day so much as it was a reminder that my baby is growing up but the good thing about it is that her teacher was my best friend Riley Minkus . I walked out to the kitchen and put on a pot of coffee so that it would be ready once I showered. My plan was to get around and wake Lily up after I was finished. She was very excited to start her first day of Kindergarten. I walked down to the hallway to her bedroom to find her sleeping peacefully. Her dark brown hair lay over her face. I walked over and sat down on her bed. She looked so much like her dad.

"Lily, it's time to wake up baby." I said as gently pulled the covers down off her tiny little body.

She stretched her legs out and then sat up rubbing her eyes. "I"m awake, Mommy." she said her voice sounding sleepy.

"We have to get you ready for school." I said said with a smile as I brushed the hair out of her face.

Lily and I picked her outfit out last night. She was such a girl and loved to do all of that on her own but I of course wanted to make sure everything matched. After getting her dressed and doing her hair we went out to the kitchen so I could get her breakfast. Much like her Dad she preferred cereal. I sat the bowl down in front of her then walked over to the coffee pot so that I could finally have myself a cup of coffee. I sat down at the table across from her, she was watching cartoons on the little TV we have in the kitchen.

"Lily?" I said to her as she put a spoon full of fruity pebbles in her mouth.

"Yes, Mommy?" she answered as she looked away from the TV.

"Daddy, is meeting us at your school today. " I answered. "He wants to see you on your first day."

Lily looked up at me a huge smile spreading across her face "Yay!" she said excitedly.

Liliana's father is a boy I met at college. We ran into each other one day outside a cafe shop near NYU. I was there eating some lunch and doing homework when a really cute boy named Caleb walked in. The two of us had started dating and it was about a 6 months into the relationship that I fell pregnant with Liliana. The first person I told was Riley and she came with me when I broke the news. Caleb was very supportive of me however our relationship didn't end up lasting because I realized after trying to make it work for the baby that it wasn't going to. Caleb was okay with this but pleaded with me to let him be in his daughters life. Together we decided we would be better off as friends and together we co-parent Liliana. Caleb actually has someone else now and together they have a little girl named Kayla. I actually get along with his girlfriend and she treats Lily very well so for that I'm thankful. I'm happy that Caleb found happiness and Lily loves her little sister. Me? I'm single and beginning to think I'll never meet someone.

Lucas POV

Living life as a single father hasn't been easy but I wouldn't change it for the world because my son is my everything. We just recently moved to NYC to start a new life together. His name is Jordan and he is going to start Kindergarten at the Elementary here. I was told that his new teachers name is Mrs. Minkus and that she is a favorite teacher among the kids in that school. I woke up Jordan and got him dressed. We were running a bit late due to my alarm clock not going off. Luckily my mom called to make sure I was up and for that I'm thankful because we probably both would have slept in. I helped Jordan get dressed. He had my blonde hair and green eyes but had some of his mothers features as well. I combed his blonde hair to spike it a little bit because that's what he liked. He looked so grown up and I was getting a bit emotional over this being his first day of school.

"Would you be okay with eating a pop tart for breakfast?" I asked him as we walked out in the living room.

"Yes, I love pop tarts! Strawberry ones are my favorite, Dad." he replied.

"Good, because we don't have time for anything else." I answered.

"Dad?" he said as I was grabbing a pop tart out of the kitchen.

"What's up bud?" I said as I handed him the strawberry poptart and a juice.

"Do you think the kids will like me today?" he said and I could tell he was a bit nervous about starting a new school.

"Yes, how could they not? You just have to make new friends." I said to him. "Come on lets go."

"Okay. maybe your right Dad." he answered as he took a bite of his poptart.

Jordan and I left to go out to the car so that I could take him to school. Jordan's Mom wasn't in his life and hasn't been since he was a baby. She wasn't ready to be a Mom yet and well I wanted to keep my son so I have raised him on my own with the help of my Mom and Dad. I haven't dated anyone since Jordan as my focus has always been on him. I tried with a couple of different girls but it just didn't work out. It was a very big decision for me to uproot Jordan from the life he was used to. I knew he was going to struggle with not being able to see his Nanna and Papa but this was something we had to do. My best friend Zay who has been living in the city since he went to college out there to become a Lawyer called me and told me about a Veterinary Clinic that is beloved to many people was going to be shut down due to the owner having health problems. He told me I should buy it so that's what I did. I figured this would be a great opportunity for both Jordan and I. It would be a big change for him and I but would get used to it.
