Maya POV

Riley wanted me and Lily to come to dinner again which was unusual because we usually only did dinner once a week at her place. I didn't argue with her on it because I loved her cooking and I know that Lily loved spending time with Aunt Riley and Uncle Farkle. I came home bathed Lily, and then we headed out. I changed out of my work clothes and put on a cute dress. Nothing too dressy but just something that was cute and cool since it was still fairly warm outside. Lily and I arrived at Riley's shortly after 6. When I got there we were greeted by Riley at the door.

"Hi Aunt Riley!" Lily exclaimed.

"Hey Liller's!" Riley said as she picked up Lily and carried her inside.

I looked over at Riley as we walked inside "How you doing Riles?"

"I'm great, peaches." she replied before putting Lily back on the floor. "I'm making chicken and baked potatoes tonight for dinner."

"Sounds yummy!" I replied "And it smells really good too!"

Riley and I talked for a little bit but then she had to do go check on the potatoes and chicken. I sat there on the couch looking at my phone when the doorbell rang.

"Maya can you grab that for me?" I heard Riley yell from the kitchen.

"Sure thing, Riles!" I hollered back as I made my way to the door.

I walked up to the door and opened it only to be shocked that Lucas and his son were standing on the other side.

"Lucas? What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Riley invited us for dinner." he answered. "You look beautiful by the way."

"Oh did she now?" I said half laughing. "Well you should come in then shouldn't you."

"Hi." Jordan said to me as we walked in.

"Hello Jordan!"  I said with a smile.

"Jordan!" Lily exclaimed while she came running down the hall way. "Aunt Riley said you were here! Come on I'll show you my playroom."

And with that the two children ran off leaving me and Lucas there alone.

"Look Maya this wasn't my idea, I swear." Lucas said.

"Oh, don't worry I know whose idea it was." I said and he chuckled.

Lucas went out to the living room and I told him I would be right back because I was about to go kill Riley. I burst through the kitchen causing her to look up.

"You mind telling me why Lucas is out there?" I said as I walked up to Riley who was grabbing plates out of the cupboard.

"Look Maya I know you aren't going to be happy with me but it was the only way to get you to talk to him. He's a nice guy, the kids love playing together, so why not just get to know him?" she said to me and I rolled my eyes.

"I just worry about Lily." I answered truthfully.

"You don't need to worry about her. She doesn't need to know anything and I'm sure if you told Lucas this he'd understand," she replied and I hated to admit it to myself but she was right.

"I guess you haven't point."  I said to her and she grinned.

"I know that I do. Lily is young and doesn't quite understand things yet. Tonight will go right over her head and in the future if you two end up going on a date it's not like she doesn't need to know anything."

"Fine." I will go talk to Lucas.

I walked back out to the living room to join Lucas while Riley continued with dinner. Farkle wasn't doing some things in his office and the kids were off playing. I guess this would be the perfect time to have a conversation with Lucas while no one was around.  I walked into the living room and couldn't help but notice how handsome he looked sitting there on the couch. I didn't want him to catch me staring so I decided to speak.

"Hey, I'm back." I said as I went over and sat beside him on the couch.

"Nice to see you are back. How was your day?" he replied with a smile that made me almost weak in the knees.

"My day was great. Thank you for asking. How was yours?" I said with a smile.

"Mine was good too. I love having my own clinic now." he replied.

"I'm sure you do!" I answered. "You did a great job with Lily's kitty."

"Maya, I'm sorry for asking you out so soon." he said and I could tell he really did feel bad.

"No, Lucas don't be it's fine. If the offer still stands I will get dinner with you sometime." I said with a smile.

A smile grew wide on his face "The offer still stands."

"Okay, great. I have one condition though." I replied as I bit my lip nervously.

"And that is?" he curiously asked.

"That it be kept a secret from my daughter. I hope you don't mind but I would rather not have Lily know about this right away. I don't want to bring a man into my life and then her wonder what happened if something goes wrong. She is little yet and I don't want her confused."

"That is perfectly fine Maya. I feel the same way about Jordan. His mom has never been in his life. I don't want him getting attached to you. I'm not asking to date you just to get dinner with me so we can get to know each other more. Especially since the kids have gotten so close." he answered. "Lily is all Jordan talks about."

"I understand that. Lily actually told me that Jordan told her he wishes that he had a Mommy so I get where you are at with this."

"He's been telling me that a lot lately too." he sighed. "I do my best to make him feel better about it."

Lucas and I continued chatting for a bit before we were interrupted by Riley who came to tell us dinner was ready. We had exchanged numbers before Riley came to get us. The kids were having a great time playing together and were disappointed when it was time to leave.  Me? I was happy that I finally grew the balls to go on a date with someone. I just hope it went well.
