Two Worlds Collide

Chapter 4

Lucas POV

After Maya left with her daughter I wanted to take a minute to ask Mrs. Minkus how Jordan did on his first day of school. It sounded to me that he did good but I still wanted to be sure as this is a big change for him. Mrs. Minkus has just got done seeing the last child out when I had seen she went back and sat down at her desk I left Jordan to go talk to her. 

"Hi Mrs. Minkus, I'm Lucas Friar, Joradan's dad." I said as I put my hand out to shake her. 

"Hi Lucas, nice to meet you." she replied back as she took my hand in hers.  "Jordan is a great student." 

"I'm so glad to hear that. I was wondering how he did on his first day?" I replied "Moving here is a big change for him for so I've been concerned at how he would adjust to this new life." 

"Jordan did wonderful! He made friends with my best friends daughter right away." she exclaimed. "It's a pleasure to have him in my class." 

"I'm glad to hear that, Mrs. Minkus." I answered. "Please let me know if he begins to act out or have a hard time." 

"I certainly will Lucas! And please call me Riley." she said with a smile. 

After talking to Riley, Jordan and I headed on home. I still had to figure out what I was going to do about having someone watch him after school. I strapped him safely in his booster seat than made my into the drivers side. As soon as I sat down Jordan started talking. 

"You were right, Daddy." he said to me. 

"What was I right about?" I asked him. 

"You said I would meet new friends. I'm so glad I met Lily. She is really nice." he answered. 

"I'm glad you did to. Did you have a fun day at school?" I asked him.

"I had lots of fun. Lily and I sat together at lunch. Lily is so nice Dad." he said to me. 

"I'm happy for you, son. It seems her parents have raised her quite well." 

"Lily told me that her Daddy doesn't live with her but that she still gets to see him. She has a baby sister named Kayla." Jordan replied and the part about Lily's dad not being in the picture grabbed my attention. Was Maya Hart single after all?

"That's nice bud. I'm so glad to hear you made a new friend." I replied. 

"Lily's great dad. I really like my new school." he answered. 

"Good, I'm glad that you do." 

Maya POV

After Lily and I got home I put her in the bath so that I could get it out of the way for the night since we were going to Riley and Farkles for dinner. I had just got done washing Lily's hair and was sitting there in the bathroom on my phone googling Lucas Friars name to see what I could find about it while Lily played. It was then that I realized I've lost my mind.  

"Mommy?" Lily said to me causing me to look up from my phone. 

"Whats up baby?" I said to her. 

"I feel bad Jordan." she said to me with a sad expression on her face.

I started to grow concerned "Why do you feel bad for him?" I asked her 

"Because he told me that he doesn't have a Mommy." she replied and it was then that my heart broke. 

"You know what Lilybug? Sometimes kids don't have a Mommy and Daddy like you do. Mommy never had a Daddy either until Grammy met Pap." I replied. "And that doesn't mean that he doesn't have an amazing Dad." 

"But Mommy it's so sad. He told me he wished he had a Mommy." she replied to me. 

"You're right it is sad." I replied "Come on lets get you out of here. We need to get going to Aunt Riley and Uncle Farkles." 

I got Lily out of the bathtub, dressed her in pajamas, and braided her hair before leaving to Riely and Farkles. We had to get going before I was late for dinner otherwise Riley would kill me. It didn't take us long to get to their place . After getting there I rang the doorbell and Farkle answered. 

"Hey Maya!" he said excitedly "So glad you guys came." 

"Hi Uncle Farkle!" Lily said excitedly. 

"Hey there munchkin! How did you like school?" he asked her. 

"It was lots of fun. Aunt Riley is a good teacher." she said with a grin. 

Riley and Farkle lived in a big condo here in the city. Farkle started running his Dad's company so he and Riley were good on money. They have been married for 3 years now but have been together since High School. When Riley found out I was pregnant she wanted Liliana to have her own play room so that's what Farkle did he built Lily her own playroom. Lily loved her play room it was always the first place she ran to whenever we came over. She also loved their dog Gabe who followed Lily around whenever she was there. Farkle told me he had to do some things in his office but that Riley was in the kitchen making dinner. 

"Hey Riles! What are you making?" I asked her. 

"Oh Hey Maya! I'm making Tacos!" she replied. 

"You know me so well." I said to her. "I had to take Sundance to the vet today. Guess who the new vet is at the clinic." 

"Who?" she asked me. 

"Lucas Friar." I replied. 

"Really? Did you find anything out about him?" she asked me. 

"Not really, Riles but Lily told me that Jordan told her today that he wished he had a Mom." I replied. "I felt so bad." 

"I wondered about his Mom because I know that Jordan is new here and today when Lucas picked him up he asked me how Jordan was adjusting to things. He told me that them moving was a big change for him." she replied as she cut up the tomatoes for our Tacos. 

"I feel so bad for him." I replied "Lily looked like she was going to cry when she told me." 

"Maya, why don't you try talking to Lucas and getting to know more about him." Riley said. 

"Because Riley I just don't want to bring a guy into my life. You know Lily is still pretty young and I just don't want to do that right now." I replied. 

"Maya, you cannot do this forever and you clearly are attracted to him. You couldn't stop staring at him this morning." she laughed. 

"Just because I think he's hot doesn't mean I need to date him." I retorted. 

Riley rolled her eyes at me "Alright, peaches whatever you say." she she replied. 

Riley and I chatted while she made the Tacos. I couldn't wait to dive into them and I love her for making them because she knows that her Tacos are my favorite. After we got done with dinner it was time for Liliana and I to leave. I wanted to get her in bed since she has school tomorrow.
