Two Worlds Collide

Chapter 11

Maya POV

After picking up Jordan and Lily from school we went back to my place. I made pork chops, with baked potato, and a vegetable for dinner which the two of them loved. I even saved a plate for Lucas for when he got here because I assumed he'd be hungry.  They were so excited to be playing together after school but the first thing I did  before they played was help them with any homework they had. Once they were finished with that Lily asked me if she could show Jordan her iPad to which I agreed but told her that if she was playing with it now that once her hour was up then she couldn't play with it again until tomorrow. They eventually got bored of the iPad and went into Lily's room to play with her Wii. I smiled as I could hear them laughing and having a good time. 

Before I knew it there was a knock on the door. It was Lucas and he was obviously coming to get Jordan. I was really looking forward to seeing him.  I let him in and we went right into the kitchen so I could give him his food. 

I walked over to the microwave and grabbed the plate of food out of it. "I'm not sure if you are hungry but I saved you a plate of dinner." 

"That's so nice of you, Maya." he replied. "I'm hungry so I will eat it." 

"Good! I hope you like it. I made Pork Chops with a baked potato and vegetable. The kids loved it." I said with a smile as I handed him his plate .

"It looks delicious." he said as he began to take the plastic wrap of it. 

"How was work?" I asked him as I sat down at the table next to him while he ate. 

"It was good. I feel so bad having to tell clients bad news. It kills me to see the look on their faces but I also love my job." he replied as he took a bite of his pork chop. 

"I can't imagine how hard that must be." I answered. 

"It's so hard. How about you?" he asked. "Dinner is excellent by the way." 

"Work went good but I'm thinking of looking for a new job." I replied. 

"Why don't you work at my office?" he said and I was a bit shocked by that. 

"How could I do that? I don't have a degree as Veterinarian." I said confused. 

"I'll hire you as my assistant. The one I have now is a total bitch. I also know you love artwork maybe so you could help me redesign the place." 

I couldn't help but chuckle at him calling his assistant a bitch. The idea wasn't a bad one. Maybe I should take him up on it. 

"What did your assistant do to you?" I chuckled. 

"She is just constantly hitting on me no matter how many times I tell her to stop. I'm just getting so tired of her." he replied with annoyance in his voice.

I don't know why but the thought of another girl making moves on Lucas made me jealous.  "I'm opposed to the idea. What would we do with the kids?" I asked. 

"I can let you out at 2:30 every day so that you can get them." he answered "Or maybe Riley would be willing to bring them to the clinic for us and you could just leave with them at 3:30." 

"Well it would certainly be stupid of me to not take your offer. Let me talk to my current job and get back to you on it." I replied. 

"Sounds good!" he said as he finished his last plate of food. "I have to get going soon because Jordan needs bathed and I also need to help him with his homework." 

"I hope you don't mind but his homework is actually finished. I figured I would have him do it when I helped Lily with hers. This way it was done and they could have the rest of the time to play." 

"You're the best Maya but don't think you have to cook for us and help him with his homework everyday." 

"I know that but I wanted to do help him with it." 

After Lucas got done eating I stood up from the table and grabbed his plate so that I could wash it off. I had just got done rinsing it and turned around only to be surprised by Lucas who was now standing next to me. He had me pinned between himself and the counter. I blushed but looked up at him. He leaned down and kissed me softly on the lips but I deepened it. I pulled away after a couple of seconds because I was worried about the kids walking in. 

"I hope it was okay to do that." he said with a smile. 

"Of course it was." I replied. 

Lucas grabbed my hand and together we walked down the hallway to Lily's room. I let go of his hand once we got closer to her door. Lucas and I peeked in and couldn't help but smile at the two of them who were laying on Lily's bed watching Daniel Tiger. 

"You ready to go bud?" Lucas said and Jordan sat up with a smile.

"No but I know we have to." he said as he got down off the bed. 

"Were you good for Maya?" Lucas asked as he picked up Jordan once he got closer to him.

"Yep I was good for her." he answered for a smile. 

"Jordan was an angel. He's such a good kid." I said causing Lucas to smile at me. 

"I showed him how to play Wii Mommy!" Lily said excitedly. 

"I know you did. Did he do good?" I asked her. 

"Of course. He learned from a pro." she said causing Lucas and I to both chuckle. 

Lucas, the kids and I walked back out the living room. Lily was helping Jordan get his jacket on so I walked over to talk to Lucas. 

"Thank you so much, Maya for picking up Jordan for me." 

"Don't mention it. It's no problem." I replied. 

 Lucas grabbed Jordan's backpack then walked back over to me. "Thank you for everything. By the way jealousy looks good on you." He said and I couldn't help but be embarrassed that he noticed my jealousy. 

"See you tomorrow Huckleberry." I said with a grin. 

After Lucas left it was snuggle time with my daughter. We picked out a movie on Netflix and then watched it. Once it was over I put Lily to bed and then got around for bed myself. Before going to sleep I sent Lucas a text that read "Hey Huckleberry, I'm glad you think jealousy looks good on me. Make sure you tell that bitch the next time she hits on you that you are kind of taken. ;)"  It only took him a minute to reply back "Duly noted, short stack. ;)"
