Two Worlds Collide

Chapter 3

Maya POV

Riley texted me during her lunch break to let me know that Lily has been doing wonderful. She said that her and little Jordan have become great friends. I went back to my apartment and napped a little bit before my alarm woke me up. I had to be at the vet with Lily's new kitten Sundance. She wanted one so bad and finally I gave in for her. I had appointment with the new Veterinarian that took over the place for Mr. Andrews. Sundance needed her shots but was too little to get neutered yet. She was a cute little thing. Her fur was orange and white. She was beautiful and Lily chose the name Sundance for her. I put Sundance in her cage before heading out the door to make the appointment. Sundance didn't like it in the car but cats never do. Once at the clinic I filled out some paper work and they told me that I'd be called in shortly. I took Sundance out of her cage and placed her on my lap as we waited to be called back. 

"Miss Hart." I heard a male voice. I looked up and was shocked to see that it was the cute guy I was staring at from earlier. 

"Hi." I replied not being able to say anything more. 

"Come with me." he said and I could tell he kind of had a cute southern accent. 

We brought Sundance back to the room so that he could give her all her shots. I handed him the kitty and he put her on the table. I went took a seat as I waited. 

"So I think my son is in the same grade as your daughter." he said to me causing me too look up. 

"Yes. they are. In fact Riley texted me earlier and said they've become great friends." I said with a smile. 

"Who is Riley?" he asked confused. 

"Oh I'm sorry I forgot to clarify. Riley Minkus is the teacher and also my best friend." I answered. 

"Your daughter is a sweet girl. " he answered as he looked over the kitty. "You and you're husband have raised her well." 

"Thank you."  I answered.  

Lucas POV

Her name was Maya Hart and she was beautiful. I was a bit stunned to see her in my office. I took her and the cat back to a room. I knew it wasn't going to be a long check up for this adorable kitty. I couldn't help but want to make conversation with this girl even though I was pretty sure she was married. I thought it was sweet of her to let me know how Jordan was doing.

"Okay, Miss Hart it looks like she is a very healthy kitty. I just want to give her a few of her shots here so that she is up to date on them." I said to her as I got done checking over the cat.. "Also do you want her neutered?" 

She looked up at me her blue eyes were looking at mine. It took her a few seconds to answer me "Um yes I do. and please call me Maya." she replied.

"Okay Maya. We'll schedule a follow up for a few months from now so that we could get in her to get her neutered." I answered as he handed me back the kitty. "By the way you can call me Lucas." 

"Okay thank you, Lucas. " she replied. 

I handed her back the kitty and she put the little cutie back in its cage before walking out of the room. There was something about this girl and I wanted to get to know her more.  Judging by the way she keeps staring at me I'm beginning to wonder if she's not wanting the same.

Maya POV

After scheduling an appointment for 6 months away I left the Veterinary office.  It was now nearing 1:30. I took Sundance home and she was so happy to be there.  I only had an hour before I had to pick up Lily at school. I was so thankful I had the day off. My job was working at an art museum. I loved to make art myself. I sat down on the couch and watched a TV show that I had currently been into. Once it neared 2:30PM I thought it would be best for me to head out. I arrived at the school on time and walked to Riley's classroom.  Lily looked up as soon as she saw me 

"Mommy!" Lily said as she ran over to me. "I want you to meet my new friend Jordan." 

Lily tugged my arm and pulled me over to where she sits at the table. Jordan was adorable  and looked so much like his dad. 

"HI Jordan, I'm Lily's mom Maya." I said to him as I raised out my hand to him.

"Hello, nice to meet you Ma'm. "he said as he shook my hand. 

"It's very nice to meet you Jordan." I said with a smile. 

Lucas had walked into the classroom but I was so busy talking with Jordan and Lily that I didn't even notice him beside me.

"Hey bud, did you have a good first day of school?" Lucas  said causing me turn focus on him instead of the conversation I was having with the two kids. 

"Yes, Daddy. Lily is my new best friend." he said excitedly. 

Lucas to turned to me and smiled "Nice to see you again, Maya" he said. 

"Alright, Lily you ready to go?" I said to her. 

"Yes, lets go Mommy! Aunt Riley said we were coming to dinner at her and Uncle Farkles."  Lily said excitedly. 

Both of  the children went to grab their things while we waited for them. Lucas turned to look at me. 

"It really means a lot that your daughter has extended her friendship to my son. He was very worried about not having any friends." 

"Lily is a very friendly little girl. She can have true sass moments but other than that she loves to play with any kid she can find." I answered honestly. 

"Well please tell her thank you for becoming friends with my son. It wasn't easy to start a new life here so it's wonderful that he is starting off good at his new school." he replied. 

"I will do that Lucas. Thank you for your compliments." I  smiled. 

After the kids grabbed their things and were ready to go I took Lily by the hand we went to say good-bye to Riley. We told her would be over to her place later for dinner with her and her husband Farkle. I'm so glad that Liliana's first day of school went so well. One thing was for sure I couldn't help but want to know more about Lucas.
