I Can't Wait Forever (A Liam Fanfiction)

Chapter 41

            As soon as we finished signing all the papers, I took Maya in my arms and we left. I couldn’t stand to be in that damned courthouse for another minute.

            Once I buckled Maya into her car seat I started closing the door, but Maya reached out her arms to me and faintly said “Mama.”

            I smiled to her and nodded, knowing she wanted me to sit in the back seat with her. I went around the back of the car and sat down next to Maya, while Liam buckled himself in the front seat.

            “So girls, we have all of today and some of tomorrow before I have to go back. What do you want to do?” Liam asked pulling out of the garage we were parked in.

            “How about we just have a lazy day? Stay in our pajamas, watch a movie, make some cookies?” I asked, looking down at Maya who was squirming from excitement in her car seat.

            “Alright, do you want to go to my hotel or over to Bri’s?” Liam asked.

            “Just take me back to Bri’s so I can get some stuff for Maya. We can just stay at your hotel.” I smiled. Liam looked in the rear view mirror and our eyes locked. I quickly looked away before Liam could see the blush coming toward my face.

            We pulled up to Bri’s building not too long after and we got out quickly, being swarmed by a couple paparazzos. This time I took extra care in holding onto Maya, making sure that nothing would happen to her.

            Once inside we made it up to Bri’s apartment. I unlocked the door with the key she had given me and as soon as I unlocked the door I heard her footsteps on the other side of the door and she was soon right on front of me.

            “Well, did you… Maya!” she started asking until her eyes landed on Maya. Maya smiled and reached forward, and eventually into the arms of Bri.

            “Bwi!” she said as she hugged Bri.

            “Hey Maya, I missed you so much!’ Bri said, letting tears fall from her eyes as she pulled Maya closer to her.

            “We are just going to get some stuff and go over to Liam’s hotel. He’s leaving tomorrow…” I said as Bri put Maya down and she ran back to me.

            “Ok, but tomorrow is going to be a girl’s day!” Bri squealed and walked off with me to pack some stuff for Maya since some of my stuff was already at Liam’s hotel room.

            “So…” Bri said, raising her eyebrow at me as she closed the door to mine and Maya’s temporary room.

            “So what?” I asked, getting a small bag out and started to pack some stuff into it.

            “So, what now with you and Liam?” she asked as though it was the most obvious question in the world, and I guess it kind of was.

            “I honestly don’t know…” I sighed and put down the shirt in my hand and sat down on the bed.

            “Well you have Maya, and you two obviously still have feelings for each other.” Bri tried to explain.

            “I know, I just think it’s too much right now. Trust me, I still love him, so much, but all of the fame and publicity that comes from being THE Liam Payne’s girlfriend is just, not what I need or want for Maya and me.” I explained to Bri. It hurt me so much to say it, but it had to be said; I was not going into any relationship with Liam anytime soon.

            And who knows? Maybe in ten years time I will be ready for that, maybe in five years? But in that time Liam might find someone else, or just not love me anymore. I just hope he can stay in Maya’s life.

            “Well, I think I have everything, I’ll be back tomorrow for girl’s day.” I smiled and picked up the bag and walked out the door, but Bri stopped me before we made it to the turn of the hallway to where Liam and Maya were.

            “But just, be careful. With Liam and all that.” Bri said.

            “Thanks Bri, but I’ll be fine.” I smiled and gave her a hug, turning around and walking out to Liam and Maya.

*Liam’s POV*

            “Liam?” Maya asked as we waited for Emily to come back from her room.

            “You know you can call me daddy?” I asked and Maya’s eyes brightened.

            “Yeah, daddy!”she said with a big grin on her face and stood up and walked over to me.

            “What is it baby?” I asked, not really sure what to do. This was my first real day as a father and I was really nervous.

            “Can we play princess?” she asked suddenly and my heart rate increased. The truth is, I was dreading this question. In all the movies you see the little girl playing princess with her dad, and he is wearing a tutu and wings and a crown and they prance around dancing, but I was scared.

            What if I did it wrong?

            “Daddy?” she asked again, pulling at my hand.

            “Sure, but can you teach me?” I asked and Maya giggled, her eyes crinkling in the cutest way.

            “Come here!” she said, running over to a big chest on the other side of the room. She opened it slowly and inside laid a couple of dresses, some fairy wings and wands, and some tiaras.

            “Here!” she said handing me a tiara and some wings. I put them on and looked over to see Maya struggling to put on her pink princess dress.

            “Do you need some help?” I asked walking over to Maya but she shook her head.

            “No, I’m a big girl. I can put it on.” She said and huffed before pulling the strap over her shoulder.

            “Ok, now what do we do?” I asked as Maya chose herself a tiara.

            “Now we dance, and kiss the prince.” She smiled as she said the last part.

            “Ok.” I mumbled to myself and started dancing like Maya was. I picked her up and spun her around, hearing the adorable laugh coming from her as I put her down and started to tickle her.

            “Daddy!” she squealed and I stopped.

            “How about next time I be the prince?” I asked and Maya nodded, “I can’t really dance like a princess.” I chuckled.

            “Yeah, you can be the prince, mommy can’t be a prince. She is a girl.”

            “I know, isn’t it a good thing I’m here?” I asked and Maya leaned in to hug me.

            “Hey guys…” I heard Emily, and when I turned around I saw her leaning against the wall, a smirk on her face.

            “How long have you been there?” I asked, standing up with Maya in my arms.

            “Long enough…” Emily smiled and walked past me to the door.
