We walk into the stadium and we are hit with the roar of the crowd. This time we got seats right next to the field instead of a box. It wasn’t a Liverpool game, so I didn’t wear my jersey, but Liam dressed himself and Maya in Manchester jerseys. I protested a little, not wanting my child to be a Manchester fan, but I gave in after some time.
We took our seats and waited for the players to come out.
“See, isn’t this so much better? No need for fancy dresses and dinners. Just a game and some lousy junk food is all I need.” I smiled across Maya to Liam who nodded to me.
“Yeah, I’ll keep that in mind.” He smiled and looked back at the field. I was really enjoying myself, and I didn’t want this to end. But I knew eventually I would have to leave. I have to find a job, and get an apartment, and so much. I can’t do that from halfway across the world.
Eventually the game started and I forgot about everything. I cheered for the team playing against Manchester just to spite Liam. At one point Maya turned to me, with her Manchester jersey and pointed her finger telling me to stop cheering for the losing team.
But they ended up winning, and Manchester lost. And it was so cute seeing Liam so upset, and Maya mimicking his actions. They really looked so alike.
“How about I get the two moaning puppies some ice cream?” I laugh as we walk back to the black SUV that drove us here. The both nodded and their smiles returned.
We drove to a nearby ice cream shop and stepped inside. There were a few old couples in there, and a few teenage girls. They all saw us walk in and it looked like they were about to pass out. They all walked over slowly to Liam, and I took Maya out of the way.
It only took a couple minutes for Liam to take all of the pictures and sign all the autographs and then he walked over to me where I was already ordering for myself and Maya.
“A double scoop of chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, and a kids scoop of strawberry with M&Ms.” I told the woman behind the counter, already knowing what Maya and I were getting. It was always the same at every ice cream shop.
“I’ll have a triple scoop of cookie dough.” Liam said behind me and the woman turned away to get our orders.
“This place is so cute.” I smile and look back at Liam who is looking around the place, a smirk on his face. I look around and seem to recognize the place. “What?” Liam looks at me a smile on his face. He planned this.
“This used to be Creamers, didn’t it?” I ask, remembering the same pale blue walls and the window out in front and the squeaky door at the side of the building.
The name may have changed, but it was still the same building with the same memories.
Flashback
Liam pulled up to the small ice cream shop we had talked about a couple hours ago. We got inside and I went to sat down in a small booth while Liam went to order.
He came back with my order, a double scoop of chocolate ice cream, and his, some sort of sundae. He set mine down in front of me and I started eating.
“I love this place.” I sighed after finishing my ice cream. Liam nodded, still finishing his bowl. IT was piled with everything you could possibly put on ice cream.
