The past three days, waiting to be able to see Emily again have been terrible. We had so many interviews that I didn’t even get a chance to see Maya awake. But now we were finally in the airport and I would have a little more than a week off. And after that I would be done for a long time.

I was hoping that now I could finally make everything right between Emily and me and we could be a family. Of course I was getting in over my head, but I was only hoping.

I picked up Maya and we walked down to the plane. I was only a five hour plane ride away from seeing Emily again. I wanted to see her so badly, but then why was I so nervous?

When we finally landed, I gathered Maya into my arms quickly and we ran out of the plane and to baggage claim. I grabbed my bag and we ran out to where Bri said she would pick us up, and luckily she was already there so I didn’t have to wait in this crazy airport.

“Hey Bri.” I huffed as I put Maya into her car seat and ran over to the passenger seat.

“Hey.” She smiled and put the car into drive as I buckled my seat.

“So how much longer does Emily have to be in the hospital?” I ask as the drive to the hospital becomes shorter.

“Just a couple more days, and the she’ll be free to go.” Bri smiles, taking a turn off the highway.

“Ok good…” I said, rubbing the back of my head. I opened my mouth to say something but I decided against it. But Bri caught it and smiled.

            “What?” she asked.

“Nothing, nothing…” I looked out the window and avoided her stare.

“You were going to say something.” She started to laugh.

“It’s nothing, I was just wondering… if you think it would be a good idea to ask Emily to come with me to England for a little while?” I asked all in one breath.

“How long is a little while?” she asks.

“No more than a week. It’s just that, I have to go there for some work and I really don’t want to be apart from Maya. I just got her and we are so close now, and even a week apart from her seems like eternity.”

“I uhm… I don’t know if Emily would be up for it, but you should definitely ask.”

“Why wouldn’t she be up to it?” I ask as we are driving through the busy streets of New York.
