"Please?" I asked into the phone, Liam standing behind me, still not understanding.

"But Em, I haven't had enough experience, I'm probably no good." Collin said into the phone.

"Shut up Collin, you are an amazing lawyer!" I pleaded again, but Collin said nothing, "Besides, it's an easy case. They have no evidence or valid reasons to take Maya away from me. I get my daughter back, and you get more experience."

"Fine..." he said into the phone after a couple seconds of silence. I jumped in the air and nodded my head to Bri and Liam.

"Awesome, lets meet at the Starbucks near Bri's house in twenty minutes." I said and after getting an ok from Collin, I hang up the phone.

"Ok, let's go to the Starbucks." I said grabbing my purse and starting to walk out the door.

"Wait, what's going on?" Liam asked, running after us as we got into the elevator.

"My friend, Collin, he's a lawyer." I said to Liam who nodded.

"So we're going to meet him now?" he asked and I nodded.

We got out of the elevator and walked a couple blocks to the Starbucks we agreed to meet Collin at. It only took us ten minutes to get here, so we just sat down and waited for Collin to show up.

A couple minutes he walked in, with a plaid shirt and jeans and his briefcase. I waved to him, and he walked over to us, putting down his briefcase and sitting next to Bri and across from Liam and me.

"Ok," he said getting his notebook out, "tell me everything that happened."

...

About an hour later, we finished explaining everything to Collin, who had four pages, front and back, full of notes.

"Alright, I'll call Child Protective Services and check that they already set up a court date." Collin smiled and got up from his chair, followed by all three of us getting up.

"Thank you so much Collin, you don't know how much this means to me." I leaned in to give him a hug. I felt him nod slightly into the crook of my shoulder.

"It's no problem really, I love you and Maya; I would do anything to help you guys." He smiled and walked over to Bri, giving her a hug, and then giving Liam a handshake.

We waved him off and then sat back down at the table we were sitting at.

"So, now what?" Bri asked, taking a sip of her, probably now, cold coffee. I shook my head and looked down, playing with my coffee cup.

"I don't know..." I sighed.

"How about we head over to my hotel, you can stay over if you want. We have... some stuff to talk about."Liam said. I nodded and got up.

"Let me just get some of my stuff." I said and took Bri by the hand, leading her out of the café.

We walked quietly all three blocks, until finally we made it to Bri's apartment building.

"So..." she said, sitting down on the couch while I packed a small bag with some of my clothes ad stuff.

"So what?" I asked, wiping a tear from my cheek.

"Are you doing ok?" she asked.

"Just peachy..." I snapped as another tear rolled down my cheek, this time too fast to be caught by my hand.

"I'm sorry Em..." Bri walked over to me and started rubbing my back calmingly.

"It's fine... I'm just on edge." I said, zipping up the small bag and standing up.

It was already three, but it felt like midnight. I had had such a long day and I just wanted it to be over. But I had to go see Liam, we had to talk about this.

I finished packing some overnight things and rushed out of the apartment. I ran down to the street and waved over a taxi. I got in and told them the hotel name.

As the man sped down the busy New York streets, I thought about it; about everything. About how my life was turning out, and how I never thought it would turn out this way.

Flashback

"So class, today we are going to have a career counselor with us today." My teacher told everyone as the bell rang and everyone took their seats.

Oh shit. What was I supposed to tell them? That I was pregnant and I wanted to go to college? No... I would just lie and say I wanted to go into... accounting. Yeah, that sounds believable.

As it came my turn to come up to the computer to take the aptitude test, I started to fidget, and my arm accidentally hit the table next to me. I quickly rubbed my hand until the pain went away, and walked up to the computer.

'Where do you see yourself in ten years?' the first question asked.

Struggling to pay for school for my child...

'A. Working in an office' I answered.

And so went the whole test, question after question, lie after lie, until the final question came onto the screen.

'Do you see yourself with someone?'

I looked over from my screen to Liam, sitting on the other side of the room, smiling, talking to our friends. When he looked over at me, his smile brightened, and he waved at me. I waved back to him, and turned back to the computer before he could see the tears forming in my eyes.

'No'. I answered and logged off the website.

I was brought back when the cab driver turned to me. I gave him the right amount of money and hopped out.

I got out of the cab with my bag and ran into the big hotel. I checked the information Liam gave me, and went into the elevator, and up to his floor.

I walked over to his room and knocked on the door.

"Hey..." he opened the door. I waved and he opened the door wider to let me in. I sat down on the couch and put the bag next to my leg.

"So..." he said, sitting down on the couch next to me.

"So..." I said and leaned back into the couch.
