"Will the Bride and Groom please step forward."

Following the words of the registrar, Paul and Jane stood nervously together. It so reminded Paul of time when he had been sent to the Headmaster at school rather than his own wedding. He cast a glance to Jane. She looked beautiful as always but they was something about her at the moment he couldn't quite put his finger on. She looked radiant! She caught his glance and smiled at him. Her smiled calmed him and reassured him.

The Ceremony began.

"I do solemnly declare, that I know not of any lawful impediment why I, James Paul McCartney may not be joined in matrimony to Jane Asher."

Hearing the emotional quiver in Paul's voice, made the ceremony much more intimate than Jane had expected. She repeated the same words as Paul.

Then, following the directions of the registrar, they made the vows they had written for each other.

"I call upon these persons, here present, to witness that I, James Paul McCartney do take thee Jane Asher  to be my lawful wedded wife.  I promise that I will respect you as an individual. I will support you through difficult times and rejoice with you through happy times. I promise to be loyal to you always and, above all, love you as my wife and friend. I promise to care for you above all others and to give you my love and friendship, support and comfort. I promise to respect, love and cherish you throughout our lives together."

He looked to Jane.

"I call upon these persons, here present, to witness that I Jane Asher do take thee James Paul McCartney to be my lawful wedded husband. I will respect you as an individual, support you in all you do. I promise to love you as my husband and friend. I will give you my love and friendship, support and comfort throughout our lives together."

She grinned at him as he smiled, delighted by the word 'husband.'  The couple giggled nervously, receiving a stern look from the registrar.  Forcing himself to be serious, Paul took a ring from his pocket and continued his vows.

"I give you this ring as a sign of our love and our marriage." He looked into her eyes as he spoke. "With this I give my  promise to be faithful to you alone for the rest of my life."

He slipped the gold band on to her left hand then gave her hand a gentle squeeze. He mouthed 'I love you.'

Smiling softly, Jane then presented her Paul with his ring.

Following a few more words and then the signing of the register, the couple emerged from the room as husband and wife. They found themselves hugged and congratulated from family and friends who had been invited to the ceremony. The party stepped out into the August sunshine and were immediately inundated with photographers and screaming girls.

"How the hell did that lot find out?" Paul muttered to Jane. "Keep hold of my hand whilst we escape this lot! We could get crushed in the madness!"

Protecting Jane as much as he could, Paul battled his way through the press to their waiting car. Finally slipping into the seat beside her he took her hand.

"Are you OK sweetheart?" He asked anxiously, "You weren't hurt by them?"

Jane smiled at Paul's concern. "I'm fine." she told him then kissed him softly. "You kept me safe dear husband!"

His face lit up. "It's my duty Mrs McCartney and my pleasure!" He kissed her deeply.

The  wedding had been a simple but beautiful day! Following the ceremony, they'd gone on to their wedding breakfast at the Dorchester and partied until the early evening. Then, tired by the excitement, the new Mr and Mrs McCartney left the party and headed back to their Cavendish Ave home.

Paul had carried her over the threshold of the house, as tradition dictated. Then, he lead her into their living room.

"Paul!" She looked around the room, stunned. " it looks beautiful!"

The room had been filled with floral decorations from Paul just for her!

"That's because I love you and you are beautiful Jane. You mean everything to me!"

Taking her hand, he lead her to the bedroom. He held her close and kissed her deeply.

"When the registrar said that you are now my wife," he told her gently, "I felt on top of the world!" A tear rolled down his cheek. "And I meant every word of my vows to you Jane. I will do everything I can to be the husband you deserve to have as well as father to our baby."

"I know you will Paul." She kissed him back until suddenly he pulled away. "What's wrong?" She asked.

"I would dearly love to hold you and make love to you as my wife Jane darling." he told her softly, "But I know you are tired after everything today....I don't want to assume...." He stopped and looked at her face. "I'm sorry ...that sounded so..."

She silenced him with a kiss. "I'm not too tired for you Paul. Ever! Make love to me as my husband!"

He smiled." Mrs McCartney - that would be a pleasure!"

After slowly undressing her, they lay in bed together. Jane pulled the cover over her already swollen stomach.

"Don't do that!" Paul told her softly, "Your bump is beautiful....and very sexy."

"You think?"

He nodded and gently stroked her stomach. "That's our baby in there Jane! A little bit of you and me created through our love." He kissed her bump, "Hello there! I'm daddy!" Jane laughed as he spoke to their baby, "Never feel that you have to hid it away Jane!" He moved up and kissed her lips. "I love you and our baby!"

He slowly made love to her, sealing the vows they had made earlier that day.
