Chapter 42

Zak's POV
Mallory and I walk in the restaurant and we find the table where my mother is sitting when we walk over to the table my mom stands up and hugs me I hug back then pull away and move to where Mal isn't hiding behind me anymore I put my arm around her waist to give her a little bit of comfort because I can tell how nervous she is. "Mom this Mallory, Mal this is my mom." My mom steps forward "I'm Ellen it's so nice to finally meet you Zak has told me so much about you." Here we go I could only imagine the stories my mom would end up telling Mal during dinner I look over and see Mal smile at my mom. "I hope he hasn't told you anything bad." Things were off to a really good start and they seemed to be liking each other we all sit down and order then my mom starts asking Mal questions that Mallory and I take turns answering I know what my mom is doing I reach over and hold Mallory's hand and she starts rubbing mine with her thumb I could tell my mom was happy I found a girl like Mallory and I was too. I just hoped my mom wouldn't let it slip that I mentioned that I thought about asking Mal to marry me because I wanted it to be a surprise whenever I did ask her.

Mallory's POV
While we are at dinner we all make conversation and Ellen ask me questions about mine and Zak's relationship she's nice and I really like her when I think there is a lull in the conversation Ellen ask Zak a question that catches the two of us off guard. "Do you think the two of you might have children one day?" I cough and look over at Zak because I really don't know what to say but Zak isn't saying anything. I guess it was my turn to take over the conversation I look at Ellen "I don't really know if we will Zak and I haven't every talked about it but I can live without having children." Ellen looks at me then back at Zak who has finally recovered from his mother's question "We haven't talked about our future that far ahead but I guess there's a possibility it could happen." This time I'm the one who's surprised Zak just said there was a possibility we might have kids one day I knew that he didn't to have kids or get married because he had told me that had Zak changed his mind or was he just trying to make his mom happy. I wasn't sure but I did know that Zak and I would need to talk about this sooner or later.

AJ's POV
I get off the couch and walk over to the door I wasn't expecting anyone so it had to be one of the guys wanting to go out and do something but I'm wrong I open the door and I'm surprised when I see Mallory standing there. I haven't seen her in awhile I stand there and look at her she wasn't dressed up she was in shorts and a tank top but I thought she still looked great she looks at me and our eyes meet and she smiles. "Hey AJ." "Hey Mal what are you doing here?" She gives me a look and I see determination on her face "you haven't been answering my calls I thought we were still friends." I sigh then step away from the door "come on in." She walks in like she owns the place with her head held high and I walk in behind her then shut the door and look at her. "I had feelings for you Mal I ended up falling in love with you even though we weren't together long." She walks over and puts her hand on my shoulder "I had feelings for you too I fell in love with you too I still love you but Zak came back and I love him you are the perfect guy just not for me but I want you as a friend." I look at her and see the tears that have formed in her eyes and I know that I'm the reason for them. I walk over and hug her then wrap my arms around her waist she hugs back and wraps her arms around my neck I couldn't stay mad at her if she wanted me in her life as a friend that's what I would be.
