Chapter 14

Vanessa's POV

Even though our honeymoon ended in two weeks and we would go back home I still missed Mal a lot I sit up then find her number then call her she answers a few minutes later and I know something isn't right by the sound of her voice. "Hi Ness." Hi Mal how is everything going?" I hear nothing and at first I think that she might have hung up on me until I hear her let out a deep sigh "Things are still good I think, Zak is getting ready to leave for another lockdown and I was scratched again but on the back this time." She was my best friend so I knew that things weren't going the way she hoped they would and I felt bad for her because I knew how she felt about Zak but hopefully once she got used to being in Vegas and Zak going away for lockdowns everything would be okay between the two of them. "It will be fine Mal just don't get upset you love Zak and he loves you focus on that and you can get through anything." I hear her take a deep breath "Yeah Ness you're right I'll call you later I miss you." "I miss you too Mal enjoy Vegas." We both hang up and I put my phone down on the table Zak and Mal had gone through a lot already hopefully they could make it through anything else that life gave them.

Zak's POV

I walk downstairs with my bag then drop them by the door I turn around and see Mallory standing behind me I hug her and wrap my arms around her then she hugs back and wraps her arms around my waist she looks up at me and I kiss her she kisses back then her arms go around my neck and I pull her as close to me as I possibly can and run my fingertips up and down her arms. "You should make a snapchat so you can see me and I can see you while I'm gone." She smiles and looks up at me "I'll think about it." I stand there with her in my arms wishing that time would slow down but I don't get my wish because minutes later I hear a car outside I look down at her "I love you Mal." She kisses the side of my neck "I love you too Zak." I give her one more kiss then grab my bags and go outside then get in the car with the rest of the guys to head to the airport as we pull out of my driveway my thoughts become centered around Mallory I was going to miss her a lot. This would be my second lockdown since we've gotten together things were still going great I loved her and she loved me plus I managed to squeeze in going on dates I just hoped things would be able to stay the way they were between us.

Mallory's POV

Another week without Zak I know the lockdowns were part of the package that came with dating Zak Bagans I pick up Gracie's ball then we start playing catch and the game lasts for a while then she gets bored then walks over and gets in her bed. I walk over and fill up her bowls with food and water and sit on the couch pull out my phone scroll then find the number I was looking for then push call. A few seconds later I hear a voice I really needed to hear "Hey it's me what's up baby?" I smile to myself "Hey AJ how are you?" "I'm good what are you up to?" "I was hoping we could hang out today Zak left for another lockdown." I hear him sigh and mumble something "Sure baby where do you want to meet?" "How about the mall?" "Yeah sure I'll see you soon." We both hang up then I get off the couch and start getting ready to go hang out with AJ I pick something simple since we are just going to the mall I'm grateful that Zak had my car sent here to Vegas I grab my stuff then walk outside get in my car then head to the mall.

AJ'S POV

I had gotten to the mall not long after she had called me I play with my phone and look up and see her walking toward me she gives me a small smile when she reaches me I smile back then hug her and she hugs back then wraps her arms around my neck and I wrap my arms around her waist then look down at her. It was like she was getting worse every time I saw her she looked upset she was usually a happy person she was a strong person but that wasn't the girl standing in front of me right now "What's wrong?" She sighs "I really miss Zak this is his second lockdown since we've gotten back together he's gone for a week then when he comes home it takes him days to edit the show and we might get to go on one date before he has to leave again but I still love him though." There were a few things I could say right now but I couldn't because that would upset her the ghostbuster didn't deserve her he was gone all the time or locked up editing his little show and she got maybe one date out of the deal she needed a lot more than what he was giving her. "Come on let's go shopping it will make you feel better and if you give me a real smile I will buy you a giant cookie." She gives me a real smile then we start walking through the mall together I think I was starting to want more than just friendship from her.

Nick C's POV

I had been single for a few weeks now Amy and I just weren't working out together now I knew how AJ felt while all of us were dating I really hadn't seen him out a lot so I thought he might want to hang out for a while. I pull out my phone then call AJ and start walking through my house while I wait on him to answer then he finally does "Hey Nick what's up?" "Hey AJ I was wondering if you wanted to hang out and do something?" "I'd love to kid but I' m in Vegas." That was new to me "What are you doing in Vegas?" "Thought I would check the place out but right now I'm at a mall with a friend of ours." I couldn't think of anyone "Who are you with?" I hear him let out a laugh then hear some movement over the phone then I hear a voice that stops me in my tracks in the middle of the house and I look around the room really fast "Hey Nick." "H...Hey... M....Mal you're in Vegas?" I hear her laugh "Yes I'm in Vegas I'll give the phone back to AJ now." I hear movement again then talk to AJ for a while until he hangs up. AJ was in Vegas with Mal that part didn't surprise me I knew they were friends but to be in Vegas together I could fly out there to see if they were together but the one thing that was stopping me is the fact that Mallory scared me a lot.
