"So, I still don't like you, but I have to start being nicer or else Andy isn't gonna be my friend anymore."
Patrick stared at Pete blankly.
"Are you understanding what I'm saying?" Pete asked.
"Uh..." Patrick whispered.
"So I'm gonna start being nicer to you. But we're still not going to be friends."
"Oh."
Pete nodded.
"Why aren't we friends?"
"Because I still don't like you."
"But I want to be friends with you." Patrick mumbled.
Pete blinked a few times. "What?"
"I want to be your friend."
"Why?" Pete asked, seemingly baffled.
"Because I haven't had a friend before and I think you're cool."
"Seriously? You've never had a friend before?"
Patrick shook his head.
"That's... suckish."
"Yeah."
"So you want to be my friend?"
Patrick nodded.
Pete groaned, feeling some sympathy. "Fine. You can be my test friend. If we're good after one month, then we can be friends forever. But if not, then we're never gonna be friends again."
